Great and beautiful family run restaurant with wifi, area for camping (tents only) shower and space to relax. Super warm family. fruit trees, small beach. The food was very clean (!!!) and better than most food I had for many weeks of travel in Peru and with ingredients local (fish, duck). They can prepare vegetarian food as well if you like. Warm nice family. If you need to part you can try Collpa Lodge down the road- they have a rustic cabin and space to stay in an RV or van. +51 985 884 800 is Edith. Spanish only. can call and ask about camping or eating. Mostly open for lunch.

+51 985 884 800 i

We asked to stay overnight in our RV. The price is now $10 per person, children too. At that price we could use the swimming pool and the toilets. We didn't stay because $40 was too expensive for us. The owner explained to us that he has changed the prices since the renovation work was completed.

Prices went up to stay , we paid 300 for two , but then the trout was great for dinner. Our spot was at the far end of the, right next to the stream and river

Restaurant next to main road, easily park infront, big menu but they only served rice & fish, 1000 pp

Whole town is a “border-town”, we didn’t feel so comfortable, but okey with the car standing directly in front of the restaurant.

$400p per night for a parking space in a weedy lot with broken down cars, old trailers, hungry (but sweet) dogs, lousy views, and cold showers full of pillbugs and roaches.

I did walk down to the remote camping spots which look cool, but I wouldn't touch that hill in our 20' class C with 2wd. Sketchy and washed out at the bottom.

Spend the money at another camp in the area (maybe the management at other camps will appreciate your presence more, don't feel super welcome here)

We crossed the border from Mauritania to Senegal with our 4x4.

First, we had to pay the Diawling National Park’s entrance fee (200MRU/pers).

The road within the park (even a bit before) was in pretty good shape, very dry.

We arrived at the border around 10am (10h).

On the Mauritanian side:
1. We paid a communal tax of 100MRU/pers (it is apparently a tax used to help people living within the park).
2. In a first building, an officer checked our passports and our car’s documents (registration and «passavant»). He put an end to our «passavant» since we were leaving.
3. In a second building (police), we got our passports/visas stamped «out».
4. We changed some money with one of the locals, 1MRU = 1,14CFA.

We were then free to leave Mauritania.

On the Senegalese side:
1. To reach the border, you have to cross a bridge. We paid 4000CFA for our car (Landcruiser HDJ80).
2. Then, in the police building, we got our passports stamped «in». We did not pay for any visa as for French citizens, no visa is required to enter Senegal.
3. In the custom office, we gave our car’s registration document and our CPD. Since they cannot stamp CPDs at the border, we got a «passavant» of 5 days (for 5000CFA). This «passavant» gave us 5 days to reach Dakar to get our CPD officially stamped there.
4. A guy at the border sold us some insurance for our car. 19 500CFA for a month. The price of the insurance depends on your fiscal horsepower (we have 17).

We did not buy any SIM card on site (we met a traveler who gave us his Senegalese SIM card and we gave him our Mauritanian SIM card). But you can definitely do so at the border and then get some more internet/calls at Saint-Louis.

Also, we strongly recommend having a CPD for Senegal (if your vehicle is more than 8 years old). We met people at the border who did not have a CPD and needed to pay 250€ for a Senegalese importation document/passavant. They had to wait all day for this document (and its stamp) since it had to come from Saint-Louis.

We left the border at 11am (11h).

Overall, this border was very chill, everyone was smiling and wishing us safe travels.

We had one bag of clothes to wash. The woman told us it would be one big and one small machine, which costs 700 som in total.
When we picked up our clothes she complained that there was underwear. Apparently she does not wash underwear, but she did not tell us before…
From the beginning she seemed to be annoyed of many things, also that we did not speak Russian…not a really friendly experience.

I stayed here for one night and found it a charming campsite. Nice bathrooms and friendly owner! They have plans to build rooms and a spa place. I would stay again.

My campsite the next day was more expensive and not so nice. So Camp Lijak is a good place to stay in my opinion.

Approx. 2 km dirt road. Good maintained, no need for clearance or 4wd. Not really steep, but I think it's a no go for heavy vans with only front wheel drive. The plateau is not flat. To get from the track to this point you have to cross a ditch. The same kind of ditch as almost everywhere on both sides along the track. There you need 4wd with clearance. Most of the area is farm land. We didn't stay.

Nice spot for all kinds of vehicles. Some trees for shade and very welcoming rice farmers who showed us and explained their rice fields! The way here is quite easy and the people from the villages were very friendly and happy to see us.

Very nice spot. Of course dificult to find as the „google-way“ is not poss as the step is to high. But drive further on and turn left through the forest. We drive a 2wd 7.5 tons MAN and had no problems. Be aware of the trees, but then you will have a perfect and quiet night. The first 400 meters after the street are extremely washed out, but ok..

We filled up 200 liters here. We didn’t check before, which was a mistake. Water had a strong and foul smell. Maybe because of the rainfalls before…? Please check before you fill in!

This is a parking option in the middle of Puno, but for rigs which are not more than 2.5 meters tall. It's a small garage so you will have to go there and check if there is space but I left my van here for 10 days while I went to Arequipa by bus and paid 15soles per day and had no issues.

Family Seyfarth are very nice hosts. They explain a lot about farming in Namibia. We stayed at the campsite, they also have houses for rent.
We enjoyed the very tasty dinners. Reiner gave us a lot of information about cars (we have a Landy), he likes to restore old cars. We enjoyed the farmtrip with him with such a lot of interesting information. We also made a sundowner trip, once with an oldtimer, once with a donkey cart. We can recommend the stay on their farm warmly.

Good place to stay.
5$ / night, in shared room (6 beds).
Nice free kitchen (but it needs a bit of care).
It works also as a mountain guide agency, so they can arrange hikes and climbs.
A bit of space for storing your bicycle.

Buen lugar para quedarse.

Amplia cocina libre (pero necesitaría un poco de cuidado).
También funciona como agencia de guías de montaña, por lo que pueden organizar excursiones y escaladas.
Un poco de espacio para guardar tu bicicleta.

Just a big parking lot nestled in between some trees, nothing fancy but it works. I came out to stay at Columbine Landing but it was closed so I was very glad to find thus spot as most of the other lots have no camping signs. Also, the coordinates must have been updated because it brought me to the right spot.

Stayed here late April a couple other people campaign around there is signal on t - mobile in a couple spots but the more most private spots are on the other side of lake without signal and unlike previous reviews lake is definitely small but not super small and most definitely not a pond also this lake has pretty good fishing right from your spot in most places, definitely a pleasant little place I'll be back again!
