Nice camping with easy access from 395. 1 mile walk to the Hot Springs from here.

I didn't get the Lala discount. My room was CLP$25,000. I also parked my motorcycle next to the owner's Harley, though I never met the owner.

Hotel seems to be used by local workers. They were up early.

Breakfast is simple. Coffee, juice, bread with cheese and ham. Slow wifi.

Exactly as described. I stayed two nights and felt very safe and it’s a quiet location with minimal street lights.

RV sites are $30, all pull throughs right at the end of the parking lot. No highway noise, but you get to listen to cars with proud glass pack exhaust owners and listen to music blasting that you otherwise never would have had a chance to hear. Easy in/easy out. Power, looks like water, no dump. Only staying overnight, no plans on returning.

Like described! Big thanks @mischling for sharing this guys. We had some major Wheel suspension problems on our T4 Syncro and we got the best service possible for a decent price. He renewed the whole parts in not even one day in cooperation with other companies and after a bit more than one day we were back on the road. We were friendly invited to sleep in our van inside the workshop (or in the bed they have in a separate room) with toilet, potable water & shower. Manuel is an awesome mechanic and a passionate VW fan, and his bunch of young but skilled employees are a nice crew as well. Absolutely recommended!

Note: he’s since a while not exact at this place anymore, but just a bit up the road in direction of the city center. His number from the original post is still correct. Ask him for current coordinates, since he’ll move to a new, final place in a while.

Beautiful lodge which offers a campsite, dormitory and a chalet (price in picture). There is a swimming pool and a restaurant. The food is good! Close to the park (5 minutes by car). They also organise game drive.

Brilliant site for cyclists, off RN52 at 3682masl. Flat pitch although rocky, we found plenty of firewood and no wind. great views too. Road gets very quiet at night. I was informed by a local that the leaky pipe “water point” up the road is live.

Great spot to stay in San Martín if you are travelling in a motorhome. excellent Wifi and kind host. We had just crossed the border from Chile and had no ARS pesos with us - we were kindly given directions to where we could get some. Paid $18,500ARS for two adults and a van. Nice hot showers, very clean bathrooms. Potable water available.

Stayed here for one night, the only person we met was a young man on a one eyed horse called dotcom. He was friendly but did hang around for a long time until I gave him a bottle of water and he asked for lollies. He lives nearby farming goats so might pay you a visit.
Sunset here was beautiful.

Overnight van parking is now $35, which feels a little steep (especially for some lopsided parking spots) but you do get access to pretty nice showers, the kitchen, common areas, and are close to downtown.

There's a small unused tin shelter here. I camped outside for a little wind protection. Worst case, you could probably go inside.

Not what we expected, certanly not a bubble...there is a Village nearby and you are literally hiding in a building 50mt from the road, it was very hot and the path to enter from the street was overgrown. The idea of being between walls ( and no air circulation ) was not appealing, we did not stay and luckily we found another spot just down the road driving westbound, i have also added that on Ioverlander

The first campsite you come to driving west is best because it's set back from this road which is used by locals who commute in the early morning. Further along there are, I think, three more sites but some used on weekends by young locals to party. Saw fireflies here late in April.

quiet corner by the river. we continued the road for a few hundred meters from this point and settled in front of the finca valleros which has a swimming pool (20 bowls per person) if you prefer that to the river. on foot you can cross the river and follow a small path which leads back to the town center where there are restaurants and small shops. on the other side of the river there is also a large tourist complex with 2 swimming pools and slides at 30 bowls per person per day.

Once you turn off here the road is really rough and not many spots to choose from, it would be best to walk around and find a place and make sure you can get there before you drive it since there aren’t places to turn around. Verizon signal was weak. It was ok for a night to get an early start on some hikes the next day.

The parking located at the right of the catedral is a bit better, because it is not on the main street.
This parking is full up to 7 pm, when local people leave. Be patient!

Convenient large parking lot to overnight in behind the travel center. Make sure you park consciously so the semis can get in and out easily. Plenty of room for everyone though. Inside the gravel center there are showers and laundry available, and two free air pumps for refilling your tires! Quiet at night, would definitely stay again

As reported previously, no problems with staying a night. Asked Walmart customer service and they said it wouldn’t be a problem but to be wary of some homeless people that frequent the site. I didn’t have any issues. The Walmart was a great chance to stock up after crossing the border. Stayed here in a 35’ fifth wheel. Plenty of room.

Lots of room to park here. I didn’t see anyone else. I didn’t have any issues.
There is a lot of trash but it just looks like it would be from locals coming to party here. I picked up a trash bag full of beer bottles 😭

The place is on the left side of the street and is called “Inmobiliaria Urtado”. From outside there are no signs they exchange money. They close between 13:00 and 17:00h. On Saturdays they are only open until 13:00h and on Sundays they are closed. We were told by several locals that this is the only place to exchange money in town. We tried several ATMs and none of them had money.
