Nice spot, however the buildungs are small and only accessible by crossing a small gap. We decided to just set up the tent outside. We were not really hidden from the road but nobody bothered us and we felt save. We used the water from the streem for cooking. Looks good to drink too, but probably still better to filter or boil.

Un seul trou pour les eaux usées. Très pratique. Le robinet d’eau était fermée car trop tôt dans l’année.

Most awkward placement of a dump station I have ever seen. Couldn't manage it with my truck camper. There is another Speedway with free dump station a mile and a half up the road that is good.

Stayed here for 1 night. It‘s a big space on an empty beach between some palm trees. Stay within the line of the palm trees as the water rises with high tide.

there's a sign up on The informational placard that says no overnight camping. I guess the last person that was here that made a comment was in 22 and that's a lifetime ago. I can't take a picture. my phone won't let me. sorry

Still a good restaurant, fair price and very nice owners. Only the purple lighting was a bit annoying as it’s the only source of light…

Good spot to see the train, a bit away from the road. Saw the train at 3 pm coming from the desert.

We ended up making a try of this place, complete with purchase of “limited use” permit online from Texas License Connection. Permit was $12 plus $5 processing fee. It’s good for a year but be warned they’ll require your social security number and birthdate, along with the more common home address and driver’s license. Pretty intrusive and potentially vulnerable for abuse.

We regret trying to use this. It’s a fair distance further away from the Big Bend park on a road that’s a bit slow going (particularly after dark with frewuent deer sightings and sudden crossings) and you have to go all the way to the headquarters registration building, half way through the WMA zone in order to pick a site. We did so late at night after a long day in the park, choosing site #2 that was way back the way we came in order to reduce driving back to the park the next morning. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize that all the access roads into the WMA sites are blocked from the highway by locked gates with a combination code we didn’t have. We would apparently have to backtrack all the way back to the HQ in order to take dirt roads contained within the WMA or find this combination code in the unmanned registration building. We instead decided to make use of the Stillwell paid campground we had passed earlier on the way to the Black Gap WMA – they allowed late, after hours check in.

In conclusion, I would not recommend bothering with this WMA area unless you’re planning to stay and explore (and probably hunt or fish) in the WMA. It’s not worth the trek and hassle for visiting Big Bend NP. (Luckily we were able to get permits for a couple of following nights in the park at designated backcountry roadside sites. These are sites that *can’t* be all booked up in advance via recreation.gov.)

Oh, also worth noting the need (and legal requirement according to the permit) to wear orange during hunting seasons in the WMA.

The new Nambwa Camp has been styled very well and the sites overlook large plains. They built the ablutions with recycled materials and everything is pretty new (1 year). But it is a pity, that some things no longer work (for example at camp 2 the shower rod has been built upside down, in camp 4 th nice light installation has been broken). The problem is maintenance! The campsites are not cheap, but the location in the park and the short drive to horseshoe make it worth. We would wish, that the owner africanmonarch would tensure that more is done for the maintenance. But nevertheless a highly recommendable place.

parked with another 18 wheeler here, seemingly lively for 20:30 but maybe it'll die down soon. quiet spot overall, far enough from the road that you don't really hear cars going by, and only a couple lights in the lot so overall better than most lots I've slept at.

The guy emptying the trash saw me parking at the far end for privacy. After dropping of the trash, he sat parked in his car at the Authorized Vehicles entrance. He didn't move , just watched me, or possibly everyone. It really spoiled the vibe of staying here. He might have control issues.I did not stay.

Typical Walmart parking lot, but with a nice view of the surrounding hills. I appreciate Walmart's willingness to offer their parking lots to travelers.

Quite a busy place. Especially during sunset a lot of people pass by. The only place that's not too windy is in sight of the main path to the cliffs. The scenery is to die for though. in the bushes next to the campsite, lots of people have left toilet paper litter. wouldn't recommend for a tent.

We met Gaskin on the beach while wild camping and he asked to add his contacts and what he is offering to this group, it may be useful for some travellers that are looking for a traditional and cultural experience in Togo. Gaskin is offering a room at his house to stay, plus a breakfast, lunch and dinner, with some sightseeing of the city and its attractions (as he is a professional guide and works at Slave House and a president of Global Culturama Association for tourism in Togo).
At his house he has a parking for a motorbike/bicycle but for bigger rigs he is offering a safe parking at a Slave House Museum. All this for the price of 20,000+ Cefa, to be negotiated and arranged the details with him.
Again: we didn't try his services but it may help someone else, as the his price is quite competitive taking in consideration that the hotels and restaurants are expensive in here. Give him a call and decide for yourself.
