In front of Villa Bolita | Wild Camping

We went to go check this place out, thinking it had been awhile since the iOverlander Warning of “Beach - Robbery” in June’23. Although there was another mention of a handbag stolen at the iOverlander “Camping Smokey Paradise” pin nearby in Jan’24.

We arrived to people picnicking and fishing on the beach in front of - seemed lively and nice. But when chatting to some (presumably) locals in Spanish about how beautiful the spot was, they looked at our vehicle and said “but I wouldn’t sleep here”. They warned that it’s dangerous at night due to theft, and made the hand signal for a gun. Given the other posts, we decided to move along! (The nearby Playa Negra in Cahuita is beautiful.)

Stayed here for 1 night. It‘s a big space on an empty beach between some palm trees. Stay within the line of the palm trees as the water rises with high tide.

Stopped here to let the dog play in the ocean. Most of the spots could easily fit larger rigs. Just be careful with soft sand. Wish I had slept here instead. Would be perfect for an overnight or two.

Nice spot for one night. The police stopped by at around 10pm when we were sleeping. Our dog scared them from coming close to our car from his barking. They said that apparently this is a drug running beach and that it can be dangerous sometimes. They checked our passports/documents and left. They were friendly. Very nice beach and lots of palm trees.

Just a place in front of the ocean with some palms.

Slept here just one night, but felt really safe.

If you wanna surf, there is also a beachbreak in front of you 😀👍
