we were not allowed to leave Chile with our van purchased a month ago because the padron is not yet in our name (since it takes several months before having this document) even though we have authorization made by the notary, the jurada declaration, etc. However, we have crossed the border several times in this way. We do not understand why the customs officer here refuses to let us leave the country with our vehicle.

This is a sloping cement drive on a slope with some grass alongside. The entrance gate is 9 feet high/2.75 meters and our Promaster/Ducato van with rooftop a/c and mirrors folded just fit. The facilities are excellent and Fernando is charming. If you can fit and have very high levelers you will be happy here.

Huge parking lot in front of the sea lion rock. It's off season, everything is closed, few tourists come to take pictures in front of the city's name. Good Entel signal.

Updating my review from exactly two years ago! The road conditions on the way to Cebolla Mesa seem to have improved a bit. No deep ruts as of April 2024, just stay on the main road. High clearance is helpful due to some larger rocks in the road but you can avoid them if you drive carefully. This campsite remains a real hidden gem! Totally worth the trip out to see the majestic Rio Grande river.

About the same as the other reviews but I’m going to add they have a spigot hose right where the air is $2 cash or $2.50 card and it’s an easy enough access for big rigs. There is no restroom at this location.

beautiful sites all along the river. I went to the right quite a ways then came bk to the beginning n parked under a group of trees in the shade. it's 90 right now. looks like the cattle love this spot as there's old n new piles. not a lot of folks here but some. plenty of space tho. it'll work for a day or two. 4 bars Verizon. photo is from my back window. oh, I drive a Chevy Equinox pulling a 13' scamp, n was able to go thru the wash with no problem.

We were able to get money from here. It's a Western Union.
The owner allowed us to take out as much money as he had in the register, and then allowed us to come back the next morning to take out more once he'd cashed up again.

Stopped here in the afternoon. There were quite a few police officers around and they were keeping an eye on us. We asked if we could park here and stay the night, but they said it's not allowed.

I stayed here for the day, not the night. A few people stopped by seeming to just look at the view.
You take the first road on your left once you hit the gravel and it’s like 100 feet up the hill to the left.

We booked the coffee Tour beforehand and did the 3 h circuit. it was really worthwhile. the guides passion for coffee and sharing her knowledge was a huge pleasure. really interesting and recommended. as well Lunch was super tasty. you can't stay there with the camper not because they are nasty but because there is hardly any space...
p.s.: put insect repellent and long sleeves!

Esto sigue pasando! En info turística me dijeron que tengamos cuidado en toda la ciudad. Hay personas que ponen comida con veneno para los perros.
La semana pasada nos enteramos de un caso de un perrito de viajeros que se intoxicó.

I have stayed in this parking lot about 5 different times within the last year. On my 1st visit, I checked w security (who is always roaming the lot). They told me no problem. However, my rig is small (truck camper). Vans have also overnighted next to me. If you have a larger rig (TT/5th Wheel) you should consider parking at the travel center as security does not want their lot gummed up with big RV’s. Also need to mention, they have a full hook up campground on other side of parking lot. If you are a truck camper or van, drive around to backside of casino (follow the signs to the RV Park) and you will see a parking lot on back side of casino. This is where I park all the time on my trips from SLC to San Antonio.

Now 50 cents per gallon. Looks designed to fit a blue 5 gallon water jug; not wide enough to fit my 7 gallon aqua-tainer.

Long wait but easy enough. They had me go down to the pharmacy to buy the SIM card for $4.50. It comes with 3 days of 6GB.

Back to the Claro store to register the number to my name. Needed a passport. I went ahead and paid for 30 day prepaid plan with 10GB for $10.25. Cash only.

The 30 days might have overwritten the initial 3 days, but I didn’t want to come back to the Claro store again. Just a heads up, my data took about 20 minutes to start working, even though I had received confirmation texts saying the plan was activated.

Stayed 1 night after crossing the border. We only saw 1 other camper in the distance. Very quiet and nice sunset, but let me tell you- this place is FULL of flies. They were swarming us. We seemed to let in 5 new ones every time we opened the camper door. We probably had 50-100 of them in the truck cab when we left 😳. Looks like there’s a dump nearby… maybe that’s where they came from? Not sure if it’s a seasonal issue, but don’t think I’d go back.

Great spot after crossing the border. Fun spot to meet other overlanders. The parking is pretty sloped, so bring some leveling blocks. There’s only two bathrooms/showers (one for men and one for women), but they were kept pretty clean. Great space for dogs to run around.

Big thanks to Hans for getting us 90-day visas!

Potable water with hose.
Washing machines for $3.
Nice running/biking path on the lake.
Can pay your tab with a card when you leave.
The bread is amazing and well worth the $4.50.

Heads up: The mosquitoes are BRUTAL. Bring some repellent.

Actual name is Rabbit Lake. Legal camping spot. Definitely follow gravel road to the left, it does lead to beautiful landing next to lake. Sprinter-size campers ok.

Well established camping. True tourist resort but great off the season. Plenty of parcels for motorhomes and camping. The place does have swimming pools. Family friendly place. Came here at the beginning of May on a bike - no problem, the campground was almost empty.
