Fun view point close to the lighthouse to take some photographs of the most northernly point of South America.
Road from Cabo de la Vela to Punta Gallinas was close to 4x4. We ended up on the back of two motorbikes on a four hour drive to Bahia Hondita, boat across the estuary and back on motorbikes the other side.
I would highly recommend the longer boat journey and not spending so long on the back of a motorcycle.

10-15 minute walk to a beautiful beach that you will most likely have to yourself for an amazing sunset.

Would recommend staying in one of the local hostels on the peninsula. Rather overpriced as they have the monopoly of tourists from the boat. 14,000 cop for breakfast consisting of a meagre amount of scrambled egg, a small arepas and extremely sweet coffee flavoured beverage.
Not in walking distance of the beach.

as described, literally just a pull off on the side of the road overlooking the lake. nothing special but good for one night. not private, got service on both Verizon and tmobile. good view of the lake, it was foggy when we stayed but probably a good sunset/sunrise spot.

Beautiful view over the lagoon. Worth a stop if you are passing. I believe the stop is included on tour itineraries.

We spent an hour here as part of our tour. Short walk over the sand dune and I’m sure like us you will have the beach to yourself.
The hostel is set up for heaps of guests. It seemed empty when we were there.

It is a restaurant/hotel that has private parking and is perfect for any size camper.
The Mexican food is delicious and at an excellent price, everyone is very friendly

nice place, very quiet but a lot of grasshopers this time of the year (spring). we made a fire and a lot of glashoppers jumpt inside the fire

A perfect place for overlanding while traveling along the Panamericana, access is easy, it does not require a 4x4 but if you have it, you will be calmer, it can be accessed in small and medium-sized vehicles, there is a stove and water from the river, it is private and not More than one vehicle fits, some workers pass by during the day but they are all very respectful and friendly.

Un lugar perfecto para el overlanding mientras viajas por la Panamericana, el acceso es facil, no requiere 4x4 pero si lo tienes, estaras mas tranquilo, se puede acceder en vehiculos pequeños y medianos, hay un fogon y agua del rio, es privado y no cabe mas de un vehiculo, en el dia pasan algunos trabajadores pero todos muy respetuosos y amables.

Very peaceful spot. Quiet, easy access road in, very few people when we were here. Passing through, would love to stay here for longer

We scouted the area as a potential spot for spontaneous camping. The road to get there is not maintained, but still drivable. The place seems okay. The land is flat ; no trash ; quiet. It has some kind of privacy due to the trees. The sea view is partially obstructed by trees. No bathroom, no service, no nothing. We didn't stay there after all, because we were looking for something closer to the water. But if we hadn't found another place, it would have been our choice.

Good place for an overnighter. Showers aren’t super modern, but they are hot and decently clean - $5 with your own towels and $7 with provided towels. Shower room is separate from either gendered bathrooms and consists of 2 stalls in a room with a sink that locks from the inside. Slept out to the backside of the neighboring family diner. A bit noisy with the road traffic and trucks that idle their engines for hours on end, but nothing that earplugs can’t help with.

Strong T-Mobile signal (enough to stream xfinity, utube, and play Roblox). Quiet all night, I5 noise not an issue (parked on auto side) Police drove thru patrolling last night. Clean bathrooms.

Good spot for a night - the geyser was going off non-stop from the time we arrived 3pm until we went to bed for the night 11pm. Good stars until the clouds covered.

Perfect nice place to stay for the night. We set up the tent and felt very safe. Realy quite and decent. Nice view over a valley and at night in the skys. The sunset was also beautiful.

shower still works, but slept in the woods about half a mile west of this spot on the other side of the small bridge. much quieter - nobody there all evening, whereas there were a few locals coming and going here

Fuimos a visitar las Gachas y pasamos una noche aquí. La entrada es una subida bastante empinada y difícil para un vehiculo pesado. El área para aparcar es amplia, los baños y duchas muy limpios. La señora fue muy amable, pagamos 30.000 por el vehículo dos personas. A 20 min caminando de las Gachas.

Always enjoy using this laundry mat over any other. Staff has always been friendly and helpful, clean facility, available bathroom (ask for the key,) and the machines take card (no apple pay.) Located within walking distance of stores and fast food establishments.

Haven’t car camped here but love the amenities.

first-class service from a genuine motorcycle expert. I was stranded in Lusaka, and my fuel pump was broken.

Tithin immediately came to see me and did a fault diagnosis, even though his workshop was full of work.

He works on all kind of bikes. He has all kind of tools you can imagine as well as diagnostic tools.
He can help with spare parts as there are not much available in Lusaka.

If you have any issue with your bike or need a random service this is the place to go.

Highly recommend.

Be mindful here during rainy season. I was riding through heavy rain and had bad vision through my helmet. Their rope across the road only has one small thing tied to it, so it was almost invisible. Saw late, couldn’t brake in time and had to lowside the bike and crashed into their wooden sign. They helped me up and when I made sure everything was okay with the bike, they said I damaged the sign so should pay. I eloquently told them to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine, ignored and rode off.

This is the beginning of the track to Mayo Wurbo border crossing. The track is bad and has some extremely challenging parts. some mud and some steep rocky sections. Google gives a completely inaccurate timing. we got from serti to mayo daga in one long day of driving. took us around 11 hours with breaks. need 4x4 with low gear box and high clearance. mud tyres too ideally. did this route on 13th may 2024 in modified Toyota Hilux with mud tyres and low gear box. managed well, ideally would have benefited from increased clearance. After mayo daga the track improves and is decent up to the border. On the Cameroon side roads are even worse, there are 3 river crossings, deep mud and steep rocky sections. Be prepared for the worst. We have driven all the way from London and these are the worst roads yet. Worse than Guinea.

Quiet spot with a picnic table and toilet. A bit run down when I arrived, but still sufficient for one night.

Terrible! going from Botswana to Sambia. Took us more than 4 hours, fortunately we had been permitted to skip the line of waiting trucks! Check all data as my first permit was wrong.
Expires after 5 days wheras visum and insurance had been ok for 30 days. They tried to send me away by telling that i could extend. But I insisted on the right papers and than very slowly they did! At that day we were not the only ones that needed so much time. A cold coke for one of the ladies was obviously helpful! So arrive early enough here

Hard enough ground, not as hard as the comments suggest. Some wind protection and some noise from trucks during the night. nice ruins 5 minutes up the road & a good sunset.

its about half mile up strawberry. i can fit my 26fy tt by backing into the trail head. signal sucks but serviceable. no amenities. traffic is all going to o strawberry lake. quiet enough to have bears in AM

Nice Walmart with plenty of parking. Peaceful night along with other vans. Good Verizon signal.
