As described below. A lot of trash here but not as much as the next spot to the north. Peaceful and quiet at night no problems.

Of important note (and a great convenience) is that, if you don't have a hotel or anything to ship your drone to in Costa Rica, this place will hold your drone for you while you travel Nicaragua, and then ship it to a DHL in Liberia upon request. You just need to let them know when you're four business days away from being ready to pick it up, and they'll send it then.

Great spots all around in this area. Had it mostly to ourselves. Made it up here with our 2wd Promaster, although there are some spots along the road I thought we may bottom out. Excellent for outside Bryce

This is a spectacular location beside a dam separating two different water bodies. Currently there is a lighthouse here but some locals told us it would be moved in the next year or two. They say many RVs come and park here overnight so there's no issue. There's plentiful bird life and the sunsets are amazing! this is probably the prettiest iOverlander site we've seen yet!

On a Tuesday night in May, we had the campground almost to ourselves. I followed someone's recommendation of staying on the southern loop (we had site 43) and didn't hear any ATV or other vehicles on the amazingly gorgeous Dunes just behind us. We had a quiet night and morning, occasionally hearing the cars on 101. The bathrooms were cleaned and had toilet paper though no soap. There were spigots around the campsite to refill our water jugs. Overall great experience. Oh and we reserved through Recreation.gov and then had to checkin with camp host upon our arrival. Tmobile had a fee LTE bars and occasionally a fee 5G bars. Verizon had a fee bars as well.
I'd come back and recommend.

Could not buy a sim card here. They told me that their system no longer accepts passports for registration and so that they cannot sell sim cards to foreigners anymore. They confirmed that they were able to do this before, but not now. I went to the other Claro shop in town but it was the same story.
The next day I went to a Claro store in Jaén and was able to buy a Claro sim card without a problem. I marked the place on ioverlander as well.

Not very clean. Walls had mold built up, quite a lot of hair everywhere, sticky and disgusting surface of the desk... signs of lack of attention since it is clear that things are not being wiped for a long time. Maybe some rooms are ok but room 203 was dirty. The wifi was not working well when I arrived, but the lady at the front desk started blaming my phone instead of their system (my phone showing all the networks except for the hotel's? I had to tell her how wrong her assumption was). They also did not have a spare key for the room and asked me to leave the key at the front desk every time I wanted to go out (which I refused and told them I will cover whatever cost if I lost the key). Overall, the experience was not very good and I would probably recommend going to another hotel. I paid 30 soles for a room with a private bathroom.

We really enjoyed our sunset sandboarding and buggy tour! The price was 50 soles per person (plus 3.60 soles pp when entering the dunes). We went to different dunes for the boarding, and drove to an amazing spot for sunset. It was a lot of fun and we can really recommend this agency.

Nice little parking area with a fantastic view. We set up along the left side outer edge along the tree line with grass. Had a nice little yard and great view. Yes at Walmart. It was very quiet back on that side and before night ended about 12 overnighters. I’d say the best Walmart overnight I have had. From previous reviews here it sounds like in past maybe a camp was set up and it must have gotten out of hand - well it’s quite nice now. We needed an early afternoon stop and relax and this did it.

We even got a little side show watching one of the guys that works in automotive go in and out all afternoon and evening to his truck for a swig of liquor from his pint bottle. 😳

$5 shower pass per person plus admision to the park ($20 per vehicle). Less than camping here ($45) and a great stop since Planet Fitness and other shower facilities are rare in Utah between the National Parks. Hot, clean, high-pressure, private rooms, each with a dry changing room with hooks for clothes. The shower is located in the middle of the campground area. You'll be given a receipt to tape to your windshield.

I took the 20,000 one. Nice and clean rooms. Fan, mosquito net. Hot shower and western toilet.

We stayed at a site along this road early may, so there was still some snow and it was fairly cold overnight. the road getting out was a bit muddy so I would be cautious if you don't have 4WD and it rained recently. The site was absolutely perfect and stunning scenery, there was a wide open fire area on the clearing and lots of wood. Although we only did 1 night, I'd stay there for a week.

We stayed three nights here and it was perfect for our small campervan, since it's right next to the toilets, which open sometime before 9:00 and close at some point after 22:00. It seems a safe neighbourhood and we had no problem leaving the van unattended. There are a couple of young Venezuelans sleeping on a bench but they are friendly. They make a living by helping people park and washing their cars. They asked me 3000 CLP to wash our van. I have them 5000 and they washed every little part of our van and motorcycle!

As there were almost no registered spot in the area between the two blocs of Grasslands NP, we asked the waitress (owner?) of the local hotel if it would be possible to stay in the parking lot for the night, after having a drink at the hotel’s bar. She said no problem. We did so, parked behind the building and had a great night.

The bar is really not fancy (very little choice of beers, no cider, no wine by the glass…) but does the job. We ordered curly fries that were really good. We did not order anything else but the restaurant has good reviews on Gmaps.

We spent a very peaceful night in the large, flat grassy parking lot for the thermal baths for free.
The baths themselves were wonderful and hot with a cold dipping pool for those Wim Hoff fans out there.
Entrance to the pools is now $5 per adult. Swim gap not necessary as stated in previous posts.
There are many change rooms and they give you a basket to carry your stuff from pool to pool.
The open air waterfall showers before and after the pools were a treat! We have never been so clean!
Enjoy.

Great place for fuel and use the dump station all at the same time. Thank You!
Heads up, it is located on the Diesel/RV lane near the main building. Pull in from the back and stay to the far right to access it in the fuel isle.

Camp fees have increased since last post. It is $45 a night for electric, water, and sewer. We pulled in at 6:00pm with no reservations. Found the manager at site 37. We checked with them and found that there were 2 sites available. Paid the $45 at the (closed) office with cash and a registration slip and envelope available outside the office. Put everything in the envelope and dropped it in the drop slot. The site was a little noisy and a lot of permanent parties here but fine for one night. There was no cover on the sewer pipe so a little stinky but a paper bowl and a rock made a makeshift cover for the night.

Freddy welcomes any kind of travellers at his huge garden.
He has a lot of fruits and vegetables planted there, if you get there in the right season, you can enjoy them fresh :)
Place for some tents and also Vans. In the cabaña there is a double bed and a sleeping couch.
There is a community kitchen and a bathroom. We didn't use the WiFi, so no comments about that.
Usually there are always some travellers doing voluntary work.
The design with the bottle on the walls and mosaic's is very cute!
There are a friendly dog "Cielo" and a curious cat "Covi".
In case you don't have anything to sleep in, he also has tents to use and some hammocks as well.
We liked it there and Freddy was very talkative.
