Vale a pena demais!!! Importantíssimo estar equipado com barraca e saco e roupas para frio!!! Temperatura é bem baixa, especialmente no inverno!

Colocamos foto da Estrada aqui pra ver a condição e fizemos um relato de tudo na nossa rede social ! Vê lá

We spent one night at this point. it's not really on the lake. there is little access to the lake because there are fields. and it looks swampy. with our 15 ton truck we did not attempt to approach for fear of getting buried. a little further there is a slightly elevated platform with a better view of the lake. quiet corner.

What a great place! Lots of spots beyond the main area and we didn’t even have to try to get level. Just stopped the van. All the other reviews are accurate. Interestingly enough my topo map doesn’t show the road around the lake.

Parked my van at the riverside spot and cooked up some fish over the fire. Quaint little campground, with pit toilets as the only amenity (one roll of toilet paper left ). But it was pretty private and quiet! Free with the Discover Pass.

We were here on a Sunday, so it closes early. We parked near Jimmy John’s as stated. We had a mostly quiet night, except for when the garbage truck for JJ’s came at 3:30am. No big deal. We were thankful for a safe place to stay the night on pavement.

As it is written in the description, a nice open field, a lot of space to park your car for the night !

This may be my favorite spot on iOverlander thus far. The amount of birds is magical, bull frogs, saw three gators, two snakes, and found a snake skin hanging out of a hole in a tree. A storm rolled through the night I was here and the lightning over the lake was incredible! If I wasn’t craving diamond hunting I’d stay awhile. 100% would stay here again. No outhouse.

It’s noted by previous individuals, the actual gravel pit is that the head of the road not 2 miles down the road. I did go down the road a bit further, and found a nice little road by a couple of trees where I parked for the night. Some highway noise, but it didn’t bother me.

Gorgeous views. Made it pretty easily in my Prius though I can understand how someone could get stuck if the road was any looser. Good ATT cell reception. The night sky is stunning. Very private location for only being a half mile or so from the main road. No amenities. Lots of hiking trails within a 20-30 minute drive

There are a few spots on the way to this spot and only 1 beyond it. Not far past the site the road is closed and not even enough room for a camp there because you would block the gate. It's a nice spot but personally have been in much better so I was disappointed based on the rave reviews.

This pin is private property. We ended up stuck here a night as high tide kept us from driving onto the lot next to it, where we had arranged to camp. The land owners/managers came to talk to us - said it was not as issue for the one night, but they called the local we had arranged our camping with to ensure our story was real. Will mark as closed. See post about Rancho La Periquera Camping, who owns the lot beside this one.

A big, flat area with a lot of big rigs. Also several fireplace around. The road were muddy due to rain the day before and the day we left. But we had no problems going back.

We crossed from Malawi to Tanzania. At the customs in Chitipa we were warned that the road is in a horrible state and half of it was really bad. Deep puddles, really muddy and even a stuck truck that nearly blocked the whole road. But with 4x4 we managed to get to the border in 2 hours.
The Malawi side was really relaxed, just a stamp in the passport, a stamp in the Carnet and a look at our Yellow Fever vaccine by Health and we were done.
Then we got back on a tarred road over to Tanzania and got only an entry stamp at immigration. They can’t issue a visa on arrival there and sent us to Tunduma for it. The customs lady also wasn’t able to do anything and after hearing that we have to go to Tunduma for the visa anyway she just said to go there for customs as well.

We crossed from Malawi to Tanzania at Isongole but were sent here to pay for our visa and do the customs for our car. At first I spoke with the guard at the exit gate to let us in and we drove in the wrong way. In the building itself we skipped the Zambian steps and went directly to Tanzania immigration. We got a holiday visa and wanted to pay by card. Everything went smooth but the card machine printer didn’t print a receipt. The officer wanted us to pay again but I had a look at the credit card app and there the amount was deducted. Turns out the machine didn’t have any paper in it and couldn’t print. But even with paper it didn’t want to print our receipts. In the end we gave the officer our contact details and if we don’t hear anything from him our payment went through and if he writes us on WhatsApp we should pay again when we leave.
At customs we filled out a form with the vehicle details, got an inspection of the car, the Carnet stamped and had to pay 25$ or in our case 65000 TZS. It is no longer possible to get a transit TIP for 5$ as the law was changed. It was not possible to pay by card as the network was down. This whole process is easy and straightforward but everything took a long time to get processed and we were there for 3 hours at the end.

Open on Sundays. Really helpful staff (gave my partner a tea for his cough). Food was reasonably priced and good. 450 for a large whole fish, rice, salad and chips.

Home Depot - ask the manager or desk - they need to note your tag

If you don’t, the tow company could move you… so check in

They also have a night manager and employees to stock the store

We parked near Verizon and Starbucks as requested - near the big beautiful wall with rosemary hanging down (yummy smellz)
