Crossing from Montenegro to Croatia. We arrived to the border quite late in the evening so it was empty.
Montenegro side to exit was easy and nice, they just asked passports and car documents. Once you have exited Montenegro you drive quit a distance to the Croatian border.
To enter Croatian border they asked us passports, car documents and EU Insurance Green Card. As we had done in every border we expected that we can buy it at the border, but they told us that we need to buy it beforehand and that there is no Insurance company at the border. They said we need to buy the insurance from Montenegro or we can leave the car at the boarder, take a taxi to go to Dubrovnik and buy the insurance there. So we turned around, went back to Montenegro, where they told us that they sell insurance only for Montenegro and that they are not sure why we were sent there, but that it has happened to many people before. So we tried our luck again with Croatian border but without success so we stayed one more night in Montenegro to find an insurance next morning and try to cross again.
In Montenegro there is no insurance company that can sell insurance for Croatia so we found a Croatian insurance company that made the insurance based on the documents we sent over the email and they the insurance to us to the Croatian boarder by taxi, where we signed and payed for the insurance.

Contact of the insurance company:
Croatia osiguranje d.d.
Dr. A, Ul. dr. Ante Starčevića 9, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia
Phone number: +385 20 448 800
Email: [email protected]
Website: https://g.co/kgs/r5dscQ
Price: 380 euros for 30 days insurance and 80 euro for the taxi (other alternative 295euro for 15 days)

Once we received the insurance in the boarder the crossing was fast an easy.

Yep, they wanted to see the green card on paper. Only on your smartphone screen is not accepted. The officer stamped our passports, put them aside and said: "Go buy insurance and show it to me, then you get your passports back". The Zeta insurance office is also on the border. For our old 4x4 with trailer, € 77 insurance fee for 15 days. Bordercontrol made us so happy.
