Mweya Campsite N° 1 | Established Campground

wanted to stay at campsite 3 first, because of the showers there but changed our mind after seeing the place. not a great view, garbage laying around and no privacy. went to campsite 1 instead. very basic but private (we were the only ones there) and stunning views. we heard hippos, hyaenas and lions very close during the night and had a buffalo at the campsite in the morning. the sunrise was breathtaking!

Toller Ort!
Wir wollten ursprünglich bei cs 3 schlafen, haben es uns aber anders überlegt und im Office Center das campsite 1 gebucht, da man dort die absolute Ruhe mitten im Park bucht für 6$ ppn/night. Wir waren mit unserem dachzelt unterwegs und konnten uns selbst verpflegen. Feuerholz konnten wir vom Office mitnehmen. Außer einen spektakulären Blick auf den Fluss, die Elefanten gegenüber und die Büffel am Morgen ist man rundum alleine in der Wildernis. Man hört durchgehend die Hippos am Wasser. Toiletten sind gegeben, haben wir uns aber nicht angeschaut. Wir haben direkt vorne am Rondell gestanden. Absolut zu empfehlen!

Nice place. We camped at nr 2. No facilities but nice view and camping in the middle of nature with animals around.

You can see elephants and buffalos on the shores of the lake quite far away but that's it. Bush atmosphere, sound of frogs, elephants and hyenas during the night. Pleasant if you're looking for isolation.

wild campsite with only pit toilets. fantastic view above channel meanders. same price as Mweya public campsite (3): 5US$ pp + park fees. you pay at Information center and you can later pick which one of the 3 campsites to stay at.

Most basic but absolutely beautiful campsite in QENP. Nothing there except for pit toilets and an amazing view. Book the site at Mwenja (campsite 2), or take campsite 3 there. Plenty of wildlife around at night, so ask for some firewood (no extra costs).
