Description

Picnic area of State Park with 3 tables, fire rings and pit toilet. A nice 5 Min. walk brings you to a small waterfall and a 10 Min.walk to a bigger fall. Little stream just next to where we parked. No sign that camping is prohibited. Very quiet at night.

Excellent spot, very quiet. We were by ourselves.

We stayed for a night in the parking area on the north side of Hwy 26 (instead of the larger area near the barn on the south side). A small falls and gorge are steps away. Two picnic tables are available on this side, as well. It was quiet and serene. We had it to ourselves. Except for two spots, the ground is uneven. We managed and loved it, though.

Great place. We parked next to the old barn, had a very cold but refreshing dip in the lower waterfall pool, used the stream water but not for drinking, quiet, pit toilet was clean.

Still a valid place to stay! It is well-maintained despite this park being surprisingly deserted.

There are two picnic waysides, one on each side of the road. I found the one on the North side to be uneven. There is a beautiful short trail to Baby Flume, and definitely worth the look. I saw an out house but did not use it.

On the South side, it was flat. There is a cemetery with the original settlers of the area (1812) and a creepy old barn. This is the side with a longer easy trail to the water falls, and the historical interpretive signs in the lot are definitely worth the read.

There is also a NH Fish & Wildlife Viewing Area just SE of the State Park with a nice lot to overnight in. That is where I stayed. You can hear the highway but it was quiet after 10pm.

I had 1-2 bars Verizon LTE in all spots, depending on where you park (w/o booster up).

Cool little "Park". If you blink you will miss the turn-off coming down the mountain. There are two areas that you can pull into. there is a grassy area a little bit up the hill that has a picnic table. there are only three spots in the paved area and getting level may be difficult for bigger rigs. there is a great and challenging trail up to the top of the mountain and a beautiful waterfall right by the campsite. I had no T-Mobile reception at all

Arrived after dark with a couple of inches of snow on the ground. Very quiet - breathtaking star gazing!
