Description

USDA Forest Service campground and day use area. 10 numbered sites with gravel picnic area, fire ring, grill, and lantern and hitching post at each site. Big rig and trailer friendly. Restroom, potable water, and pavillion on site featuring Shockaloe horse trail. $7/night and $3.50/night with National Forest Access Pass. I pulled in with intent to pay some $, and had just settled down after un-hitching when a Ranger came in. After seeing my Pass, he she said that I was "Good to Go", meaning I didnt have to pay anything (to me). I have been here 3 days. Im going to stay 4 more before I move on. Nice, quiet, and natural setting.

Report Check-In

Place was completely empty, water was off and the pit toilet was locked. We stayed anyway and had an uneventful night.

Report Check-In

We pulled in at 10:00 pm and found the gate locked with a “Closed for the Season” sign. Parked in front of the gate in our converted Ford Transit. Very quiet except it’s quite close to a train track, but after hearing a loud train go by shortly after we got there, we don’t think we heard any more until early morning. Left about 8:00 am, no issues.

Report Check-In

Arrived and found an “Area closed for the season” sign on the locked gate.

Nice and quite pads weren't level but still a nice place to grab some shut eye could stay here for days if needed. There were just me and to other cars here which was nice.

Report Check-In

The campground seems to be decommissioned, so the trash bins are over flowing, and the pit toilet is unusable. I called the local district office to have the trash and toilet addressed. Otherwise nice flat plots, lots of water faucets and very quiet. Train went past 3x during the night. No issues. 4 bars Google Fi LTE.

Was the only camper here on a Monday night. A few of the sites had trash piled up in the fire pits. Pretty quiet night except for a shouting match between two cars on the road at 11pm. Didn't use the pit toilets. I'd probably stay here again if I were passing through the area.

Report Check-In

Quiet little site besides the trains rolling through. No one came to collect any money, and only one other truck came in last night. Good spot for a self contained rig or van. Me and the dog enjoyed the quiet and birds. Didn't get a chance to check out the pit toilets.

Report Check-In

Open, but recently did a controlled burn and the whole campground is black. Sites are gravel and walkable, but everything else is black soot. Hung our Parks Pass, but didn’t see a Ranger. Bathroom appears to be open (didn’t use), central water faucet is working (but you have to trek through the soot to get to it), and trash cans are plentiful. We were the only vehicle until around 8 pm, then one other came in. Very peaceful, pretty quiet. Ten well-spaced spots. Good stop, will be better when burn residue clears.
