Nice grassy place with two big trees were you can put your tent or park your car ! There is a toilet with shower cold only and running drinking water! It is very secure because there is the whole night two guys which are looking around and watching the entrance of the project! You are ask if you could stay at a place in front between the trees!
Very Quiet Place to stay the night on your way to caraz !
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We tried to cross the bridge after sunset direction Road 123 to Road 12 only to find it broken again (See photo). There was no security around the gate, as we decided against trying to cross in the morning. We didn't sleep here and returned towards Santa. There is a nice flat area next to the entrance that could accommodate any size rig.
Report Check-InWe are cyclers.
The road Chao-Tanguche-this place is in perfect conditions and was the most scenic for us of all the northern desert (+no traffic, no trash). The road after this bridge is not in good conditions: sometimes paved (with holes), sometimes not. So if you are really tired, think twice to cycle those 8km to Chuquicara.
Anyway, this place is a water purification plant. You cannot enter it but there's a tiny house outside of the friendly guard with WC, bucket shower and clean water hoose (you need to filter it though for drinking it). He is used to receive overlanders. He asks for a volunteer contribution to use the facilities. We gave 5S. Camped outside the house under the trees. Quiet place
You can’t really enter the space anymore. Motorcycle can still camp under the trees. The guard told us park next to the street (see picture) and asked for Propans.
Report Check-InI'd like to comment that the bridge was repaired a week ago and it now has new planks. We even saw a huge backtoe that weighed at least 10t crossing the bridge. The security guard of this place will call you when they see you on the road to charge you 10 soles because "he repaired" it while locals drive for free. Me and my friend ignored and just drove the bridge on a motorcycle and a T3. It was fixed apparently for some work they are doing at this place.
I commented this on the warning at the bridge but it disappeared, and an overlander asked me about the comment below.
We wanted to stay here, but had to cross the bridge to do so. The bridge however is in very bad shape. There was a security guy who wanted to help us with placing some wooden planks, but in the end we decided not to cross it.
Report Check-InSpent a quite night here, no toilets though. Night guard asked for a donation. We didn't have any spare coins but two beers for after his shift were well received.
Report Check-InAs described, nice spot for tents, kind security guard who gave us lots of water. Bathroom available. Sandflies +++
Report Check-InWe stopped before the bridge to discuss if we want to stay here, then the friendly guard waved us and invited us to stay under the trees. They are more than happy to welcome you and have a chat;-) we used the toilet and could take shower, but we didn’t. A very quiet night, you’ll just hear the river.
Report Check-InPerfect place for one night, quiet and free. We asked the guard of the project and he showed us the place between the trees.
We gave him a soda and he was delighted to receive something.
Perfect. Close to the road but bot noisy. Pass the bridge and ask the guards on your righthand. We asked for camping and a shower. No Problem at all. Totally relaxed guys. They asked me also to turn around the car because they can watch the sliding door as well.
