Description

I heard bad stories about the border crossing into Azerbaijan, about multiple hours waiting, having to unpack everything from the vehicle and going trough x-ray. Because of this I decided to not take the main border crossing but the smaller one at Sadixli. I didn't know what to expect, but I can only say it was a very smooth crossing. No queue, I was the only one crossing at the time. Some handshakes, taps on the shoulder and laughs and 45 minutes later I was trough the whole process on both sides of the border. They don't have an x-ray, I didn't need to unload my car, just some looking around in my car. They didn't ask if I had a drone and even offered a refreshment during the waiting time for some paperwork. Also the e-visa makes life so much easier than having to go to the embassy to apply for a visa.

Took the extra detour as everyone said it’s quicker. Unfortunately right now this border is closed from Azerbaijan side and I was sent to Red Bridge crossing. I think it’s due to Covid. I’m at Red Bridge border right now, a police officer sent a photo of my passport to Azerbaijan side to get approval to enter. He said it’s due to Covid. Bit strange cause I didn’t have any problem getting the eVisa.

We are a 4x4 with trailer, we tried to cross at this border from Georgia to Azerbaijan early afternoon on 27th Jan. We were told we were too big with the trailer and we needed to turn around go to the Red Bridge border. The guards were friendly but firm and there were no other vehicles there. We tried to talk our way through but were informed that Azerbaijan would not let us through and then the Georgians wouldn’t be able to let us back in either. So we didn’t risk it and headed to Red Bridge where we had a fairly easy crossing and were through in 1.5 hours.

3:15pm on a Monday, 30 mins total for exiting Azerbaijan and entering Georgia. Did NOT receive a Georgian document for my motorcycle but they assured me that was normal. Received a pamphlet with national insurance prices, to purchase 11km down the road at Liberty Bank.

Very smooth border crossing. Easy going people. We crossed from Georgia into Azerbaijan. We had to pay 55 Manat or 100 Lari for insurance and road tax for 30 days. No shorter period possible. We were the only ones crossing at the time, so within 30 mins we were in Azerbaijan.

i arrived at 21:15 and the border was closed. Nice smalltalk so with the soldiers. They said that i can park andsleep in the car, but i didnt liked it there so i drove outside in the fields. Next morning at 8:00 the border opened. three cars in front of me were let in and i had to wait. After one hour they let me in and then one official told me that my car is to big for this border. Its a toyota hiace 3000kg !! I said no, coz i read that cars til 3500kg are allowed hiere. They insisted that i have to go to the other border. Then they told me, that my car has not enough windows. They did not want to let me in. I complained and said, that i will report the whole case to their Boss and the government. Then say said that the georgia border makes the problem wih bigger cars and that georgia will send me back and then i have to pay a lot of money. I really was upset and asked for their names but suddenly i coud go to the pass control and they let me through. I dont know why the do these problems. All in all it was 1.5hours. Dont let you tell storys, dont let you send away !!!

Quiet border crossing, almost no traffic, we were out under an hour. No x-ray so no unloading, just a brief check of the cupboards in the van. They were curious about our Armenian stamp in the passport, asked where we’ve been and if we visited Artsakh, but no problems.
