Zimbabwe
In former times this was a huge, beautiful campsite and lodge.
Now everything is run down, but clean.
The campground is closed, but we stayed on the grassy ground close to a chalet, which facilities (toilet, shower, kitchen, plug point) we could use.
Free WiFi is sometimes available at the reception (it's Africa!).
We paid 5 USD pP pN.
It's a good alternative to the much more expensive Norma Jean's camp (13 USD pP pN) in the neighborhood.
Very friendly stuff (it was quite cold, they made a fire at the open fire place in the restaurant, although we were the only guests).
Close to the lake and the ruins of Zimbabwe.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The campsite and all the little chalets are completely run down !
We arrive in the dark and were welcomed by 2 mens but not sure this is their place
They opened a chalet for us to take a shower and go to the toilets but it was not maintained at all for years with some spiders around to make it better
All this for 10 pppn ....
Barbara the manager greeted us with a very rude and inhospitable attitude. She gave us a chalet for ablutions knowing full well the toilet did not work (we had to ask the night guard for a bucket to flush).
VERY dirty, it looks like an abandoned dump site and we left as quick as we could in the morning.
The only good thing about this place is Edwin who works there. Perhaps if he was the manger things would be dramatically improved as this place has potential.
Do not pay the USD10 pppn as we were first asked for! Even USD5 pppn (what we payed) was too much.
Report Check-InBeautiful setting, over looking the lake. Stanley was very welcoming and friendly, our stay was very comfortable. This place has great potential, but unfortunately very run down and in need of updating however it is clean and tidy. Monkeys in the trees, birds chattering away and a spectacular view.
Report Check-InThis place is the definition of run down, you see what happens if no maintenance is done for 20 years. For us the hot shower and wifi didn't work either. The people were very nice.
