Description

This place is a very wide, large open space in the pine forest of McCroskey State Park. It's only about four kilometers into the park on Skyline drive, so if you don't want to drive all the way in to the established campgrounds at the end of the road (about 15kms in), this is a great spot. Apparently the campgrounds are also free with pit toilets and a great view, but we didn't go there.
This site is the first one you'll get to on your left hand side as you drive up the road. There's no pit toilet or water, but it was nice and quiet, and only a single site, so you'll likely be camping alone. Many trails and dirt roads for quads branch off from this point, so it's fun to explore the area. The place was littered with empty motor oil bottles and other plastic bottles that we cleaned up and took with us. It's clean now, please keep it that way.
I think that a large RV could get up here, the road is pretty windy, but it's in rather good shape. This space is plenty big for a big rig, but if you get here and there's someone also camped here you'll be forced to drive on.
Anyway, rest spot, super dark and super quiet. Enjoy.

Great spot to spend the night. We arrived around 1 am and had no issues driving up in the dark. The road is relatively smooth, a few potholes the further along you go. This spot is about 10 minutes up the road. There’s a pit toilet located at the “large vehicle turnaround”, you’ll pass it on the way to this camping spot. Very quiet, only saw one person driving by in the morning.

We spent a nice night here. The first site is about 2 miles from 95 and has lots of space. No services but a good location and very peaceful. The road is pretty well maintained.

Amazing spot for camping outside of Moscow with gorgeous views

Very secluded spot. While the road was narrow with lots of tight curves, we made it fine with our 39' motor home towing a jeep. There were only a couple patches of potholes.

We went all the way to the camp site on top of Misty Mountain, when you get to the fresh water faucet turn right, follow the road
up and you end up at 3-4 campsites and the pit toilet. About 9 1/2 miles total from 95. We were the only ones up here for 3 days. Tons of fire wood around. Very clean pit toilet. And 2-3 bars of cell (Att). Amazing!!
