Absolutely beautiful campsite located beside Muncho Lake.
$20/night and sites include firepits and picnic tables.
Located near the highway but minimal noise down in the camp sites.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Unbelievable lakeside views. Both Strawberry Flats and McDonald are very popular with the locals, some of which informed me that the only reservable sites are basically booked solid through the summer. They also said on the weekends its nearly impossible to just roll in and get a site. I got here on a Tuesday around 4pm. McDonald was full and there were 3 spots available at Strawberry Flats. There is some noise from the highway.
Report Check-InGates are closed for the season. We were surprised as it was part of our plans, seems early for the year.
Report Check-InBeautiful small campsite with only 15 places. We arrived on Friday 11AM and were lucky to find the last free spot.
Report Check-InGorgeous lake, totally worth stopping here for a night, right off Alaska highway (traffic noise not an issue), get there early I.e. 1Pm’ish as even this early in the season lots of people looking after 4pm for one of the lake side spots. Pit toilets typically Canadian ie. Clean:) was too cold to Kayak for us given lake refroze over night, assume late June it would be awesome.
Report Check-InStayed on a Monday. Lots of choices. No problems finding a site with a lake view. Very beautiful. We tried to do the hike across the highway but we could not cross the creek: water too high after lots of rainfall.
Report Check-Insites are fairly close to each other bit decent privacy. generator rules were not being enforced when we stayed which was rather annoying.
Report Check-InReally nice lake and location
We fix our 40ft skoolie in there no problem
Bring wood as it’s $10 for a small amount
$20 per night, park guides come through twice a day to collect.
Best day to come is on a Sunday as it seems, if you want a lake view site. Local people get pretty intense about getting a lake site. As a lot of locals from Fort Nelson come to both strawberry/McDonald campground. But be prepared to not get a spot!… I think some people camp on the roadside and come back to check if people are leaving. You can pay day by day or pay right away when you get there.
Arrive early morning if possible around 6-7am, we arrived on Wednesday at 5pm got the last site by the toilets.
Bugs weren’t that bad, but bring stuff for bugs.
If you are going to go fishing, bring more then enough gear as you can’t buy any close by.
They have a water pump station on site, maybe for drinking water.
Gas station at triple G
Gas station at Rockie Northern Lodge
Can’t buy food really anywhere so make sure you are prepared.
Make sure to bring tools incase of a problem, no service from Fort Nelson all the way to Watson Lake.
Sun doesn’t set until 1am ish in June.
Nice hike trail across the road on the slide.
Nice provincial campground with lakeside sites. By the time we arrived there was nothing on the lake but we did get a site. Pit toilets were clean But no Portible water available.. Price was $20
Report Check-InRight on the lake! 15 campsites. No pull through sites, however it is an easy loop drive around.
Report Check-InGreat spot, beautiful clear lake.
Had a nice kayak on it.
$ 20 a night.
First campsite on our way up north without mosquitoes, so we could sit outside without being eaten.
Absolutely beautiful campsite located beside the lake.
$20/night and sites include firepits and picnic tables.
Located near the highway but minimal noise down in the camp sites.
