High up near the entrance of Mendocino NF. A few big open circular clearings and a fire ring. I was here during fog/rain but the views are probably beautiful. 1 bar Verizon LTE.

This location was beautiful! We made it up in our truck camper at night so we were pleasantly surprised with the view in the morning. We were all alone up there with about 1-2 bars verizon, but the starlink worked. Only people we saw were some beekeepers up there in the morning tending to the bees!
Report Check-InGreat views and very easy access. A large number of beehives not far away so we’re visited by a few bees. We came here after we encountered a road closed sign on rd 308 to another hilltop site.
Report Check-InGreat spot! Stayed here for two days. There’s some fun hiking and biking to explore around this and a pit toilet about a mile down the road. There was a fire within the past few years so all the large trees are burnt but it’s coming back and lots of green and flowers out now. Super quiet area, never saw anyone else. Yes, looks like there’s been target practice shooting there, but not the worst I’ve seen. Pick up some trash while you’re there and if it’s already occupied go a little further down that dirt road and there are other spots and another toilet. If you’re allergic to bees, beeware.

Report Check-InIt is true about the shooting, there is casings everywhere and some glass bottles broken. However, it is a very nice spot and it is the first that we found coming from the 5. The campground near the 5 is closed (COVID). That night was super windy, uncomfortable for the tent. Any car can access. Lastly, everything is burned for the last fire. It is sad, but still beautiful. No animals around.

Report Check-InThis is as discribed, a gravel clearing surrounded by bushes and trees. This is essentially an unofficial shooting range by the locals, as casings are everywhere and even a young couple arrived and started shooting there. 22 while we were making dinner 40m away. Haha! Views are OK bud not outstanding. Id recommend if you are passing and need somewhere to sleep out the way.
