CAREFUL: WHOLE AREA IS A SAND PIT. YOU MIGHT GET STUCK. Just outside entrance of Canyon de Chelly, among a few trees and near the river. A bit of road noise, but does quiet down at night. Would not venture in with wet weather as ground appears to get very soft and flood. No one bothered us, and shade from the trees. Level, and good AT&T LTE.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We tried the place across the street and we were politely asked to leave. The man said there would be security overnight.
This place isn’t so bad - not sure why it’s blocked off on the app. Theres two entrances. The first was hardened mud / clay. We drove our 25’ skoolie over it fine although we did not go in very far, just to the tree and turned around.
The second entrance is paved for about 40’. We stayed on the pavement during a rainy night for one night. If you drive in further than the pavement then yes it is all sand and you will sink. It’s rough.
There is quite a bit of road noise without being able to pull in very far but it worked for us for one night.
We saw wild horses here and an entire pack of stray dogs.
Just 2 minutes down the street from Canyon de Chelly Visitor Center.

Report Check-InJust a few minutes from Canyon de Chelly Visitors Center. Right off the road. Fairly quiet at night. Beautiful trees. Wild horses graze the area in the morning and evenings. Good att and Verizon reception. We stayed here 3 nights, out in the canyon during the days, no one bothered us.
