Something not right?

Description

Free, no amenities camping with no timeframe. About 5 miles down a gravel road. Clay road in park that wouldn't be great if it rained. Nice and quiet but not really established sites, some have fire rings and most don't. Basically just some pull offs from the main circle clay road circle. Road is a little washed out here and there and is best if you come into the park and go right.

The Codes Enforcement Officer came by this morning to tell me that overnight camping is ending. No set time yet but the Administration is working on it. It will be going back to day use only as it was originally. He didn't kick me out, said staying through the weekend was fine.

I gave it 4 stars because I have been here a half dozen times and that's a former rating. You can add this to the list of free places that closed due to trashy individuals attempting to live at as they turn it into a dump.

We arrived in my 2WD promaster 159 extended around 1800. I was a bit weary about the previous reviews of the road. The road is in decent shape and made it no problem. Their is a sharp uphill but I think even a 5th wheel can make it. We went right at the fork and found several pull offs with a few fire rings. I went further down and saw were it could get pretty rough on the road but I didn’t go down. Our spot was secluded from the others. I think there were two other people. There is trash at some sights. Our spot was pretty level with no issues. Only issue was someone came in with a super loud vehicle around 2200 as if he was going mud riding in the back. That is probably why the roads are all rutted up. I did have cell phone signal 3 bars LTE AT&T.

Pretty much as described by others. If you've been here before the wash out on the road before getting to the park has been improved, not perfect but a lot better. Verizon 25+ mbps download.

Spent a few days here. Decided to pick closest and largest site for the 5-er. Large fire ring. There was some trash at this site that I picked up. Easiest is to stay right as you come in. The road does get questionable for low clearance vehicles if you go too far. If you go left there are some ruts that can be navigated, again questionable for low clearance. There is a nice spot (34.9889745, -106.1671922) at the fork towards the gun club and off the circle with a better view Maybe next time. Plenty of tuck-ins and trash (unfortunately).

Large park with tons of places to park a small camper. No formal sites, just pull offs
