Description

*' No camping' signage.

Next to the banks of Matanuska river just before the entrance of the town of Palmer. Nice, hidden and quiet parking area. A bit noisy because of the highway but all good. Turn left before crossing the bridge on your way to Palmer. Check for the "photo" sign beforehand.

Latest Check-Ins

Noisy parking spot, car doors banging throughout the night. The views are amazing, sound of the river is really added benefit but for the traffic noise , car doors and people talking loudly all hours. Land of the Midnight sun for sure.

Report Check-In

no camping allowed! along the river, right off the highway!

Report Check-In

Clearly marked with no camping signs. We went over to the River campground. $20.

Report Check-In

Riverbank access is blocked. Looked like there were some semi-permanent residents there, but it did the job. Large, flat and not too noisy.

Report Check-In

The access to the river is blocked now due to unstable and eroded banks. It's no longer a nice spot!

Report Check-In

the place is magnificant but full of garbage - it is clearly from some semi permanent locals who settled here. please do your part to keep the wild clean.

No problem getting a 35' Class A down to the lower level, just keep back from the eroding banks.
No garbage to be seen anywhere here.

Over the bridge from Palmer/ Nice off Old Glen River side parking. There is a fairly small turn around, and parking straight in about 4 larger units can enjoy the location. Some go down near the river. That’s fine if your unit is smaller. I wouldn’t try it with a 36’ MH.

This is my first check in on Ioverlander and I'm really happy to say this is a great little spot on the banks of the Matanuska. Took our 25' RV right down to the rivers edge. Seems to be a couple of semi-permanent campers here but there's river side room for 4-5 rigs. There is a little traffic noise but the sounds of the river make up for it.

Report Check-In

We can't recommend this place. It is only grubby, because of all the garbage around the place. Ok for a night - when you arrive really late and start early in the morning.

Report Check-In

Nice spot close to town right on the river. A lot of people come out during the day, but at night only 1 other person camped besides me. The views of the river, mountains and glaciers are incredible. The sound of the road is drowned out by the river. Stay in the paved parking lot if you are pulling a trailer. Great Verizon 4G.
