Latest Check-Ins

No beach access. Huge logs placed blocking access.

Report Check-In

Unfortunately this spot has multiple “no overnight parking” signs but it is still an incredible beach access spot

Report Check-In

no overnight parking in the parking lot now. You can still go on the beach if you have a 4x4, but de parking area have now to sign no overnight parking.

Report Check-In

Signs now posted at the end of the road saying no overnight parking or camping.

Report Check-In

Illegal to park overnight unless on beach. County road/parking lot is day use only - beach is federal but I don’t have 4 wheel drive. Sheriff was going to tag my bus but after I talked to her and explained I was just trying to escape wildfire smoke she decided not to. Tagging means three days until they tow but it sounds like if you move around it resets. Beach is beautiful but lots of litter/people poop along road. I won’t be back.

Report Check-In

Check tides before you go!!!! 1-2 spotty bars of boost/t-mobile/sprint on beach. Same with verizon. If you want to drive on the beach you need 4x4 and good tires. You will also need a good bit of ground clearance too for the entrance.
Most beautiful spot I have stayed at. Only chance ever to vehicle camp on the beach. A little chilly in early September. Check the tides!!!!!

Report Check-In

It is not level, but very nice by ocean.
We stay here for 3 nights. Cell on the Beach.

Report Check-In

Amazing spot! The beach is miles long and practically empty. Beware driving on the sand as the entrance is narrow and can be deep sand. We didn't have many problems in a Jeep but we pulled out two others who got stuck with highway tires. You can camp just above on pavement and walk down.

Report Check-In

Open, low use. Us in our Westy plus one in a Sprinter in the parking lot.

I would add the following points to previous notes:
-parking lot is quite sloped, bring levellers
-cell phone service: 2 bars on Verizon
-beach access is 4x4 recommended but only due to loose sand, so some 2x4 brave souls could do it with the right tires

Report Check-In

you can certainly fit a big rig here (our 40 footer fit fine) but it's SUPER steep in the parking area, so if you're not going to drive onto the beach (definitely need 4x4 and a big rig can't fit through the brush) I would avoid this place. Seems to be legit place to camp though, ranger drove by several times and didn't stop or say anything. If you park higher up, right where the yellow lines end (parking hazard?) it would be more level.

Report Check-In

Below poster is incorrect. This remains open. There isn’t even a gate. So below poster was probably at the wrong location.

Requires 4x4 as it is beach sand and the entrance section is getting rough. May require high clearance.

Otherwise, lovely.

Report Check-In

The gate is closed, not sure for how long.

Report Check-In

Stayed here no issues for 2 nights. There were 2 other vehicles both nights. Quiet besides hearing be ocean. Enough space for 5-10 cars/SUV, vans only. No bathrooms other amenities. Just lots of stars and ocean.

Report Check-In

Beautiful beach. Lots to explore. Great for dogs.

We spoke to a nice local lady who recommended we don’t park on the beach as the tides can get high. There were some high sandy parking spots but our 4x4 was too heavily loaded to go up there.

We chose to park just off the road near the beach access for the night. It was flat and provided some protection from the wind.

Report Check-In

just around 400m north up the beach ⛱ 😎 to your right on higher ground in sand dunes. need 4x4 normal clearance. just watch the tide , unless its a king tide it should not come up there.
Amazing spot for sunset and pretty leveled

Report Check-In

Parks and Rec and/or rangers obviously patrol here. And thanks to them this place remains open. For us good-souled Boondockers there will obviously be a bit of trash to pickup tomorrow, but for the most part at the time of this writing, it seems clean and safe to stay here for the evening. High clearance is A MUST to get down to the beach with your vehicle- heavy rigs will struggle more can easily get stuck, and don’t ask AAA to help you because they won’t make the trip into off-roading sites like this. TIDE CHART KNOWLEDGE is a must if staying on the sand.

Knowledge from Parks and Rec which we called beforehand: required is an orange flag at least 9 feet high and a $10 ATV (this is a permit that covers all motorized vehicles at the beach and not just ATV’s ((Traditional ATV’s are NOT ALLOWED at this location)) ) permit is required which you can buy online and will be mailed to you within 10-14 days. Until then save a copy to your phone or print it to show the ranger. Any persons acting like vagrants will be cited and kicked out and it IS ENFORCED.

The clearance to the last part of the beach is akin to owning a pickup truck if you don’t want to get stuck. On this night we had very good neighbors who kept to themselves and were kind and helpful if someone needed anything. Ask for a cup of sugar or a jumpstart and you’d get it. I measured 18” from level at the pavement. Good luck and keep our forests green :-)

Report Check-In

Everything has pretty much been said. Great, quiet spot right on the beach. We stayed on the pavement and had a bit of a incline, but a couple of other vans parked further away from the beach and it looked flat. Definitely recommend

Report Check-In

As others have said, the entrance to the beach from the paved area is really really rough and a high clearance vehicle is a must. The paved area was too steep for us to stay the night, so we just walked on the beach and moved on. Signage does not say that overnight parking or camping is not allowed.

Report Check-In

Great parking space. You will need a jeep or other vehicle with high clearance to get down to the beach as the very end of the road is sketchy. I don’t have that, but I found a flat spot on the pavement. There’s only about two spaces where it’s flat the rest is really sloped. I wish I could camp on the beach!!

Report Check-In

Unless you have a 4x4 or high clearance I wouldn't drive off the pavement onto the beach. Went there and it was a huge drop off with a hole deep enough to mess up my shuttlebus. The paved parking area is on a steep hill. Met an Oregon State police officer while I was trying to decide if I wanted to stay overnight in a dirt pull off just before the end of the paved road, it was a bit more level but the OSP said it has been known to get riff raff rowdy on the weekends so he recommended another place in Bandon that was safer for a single female boondocker. I'm posting a pic of a red van parked on the hill, hard to tell how steep it is. Also posting a pic of my shuttlebus on the level dirt spot off the right side of the road as you leave the beach access area.

Report Check-In

Spotty Verizon, better on the beach a little north. Watch out if you leave your sandals on the beach for a stroll, someone stole mine! Otherwise was a nice place to spend a night.

Report Check-In

Amazing spot! Got to fulfill our dream of camping and driving on the beach finally!
As others have mentioned be sure to understand the tide charts, the water here does come all the way up at times. If you don’t want to camp directly on the beach you could just stay in the parking lot, is on an incline but not bad if you have leveling blocks.

Report Check-In

Nice midweek stay! One other couple in a van joined me. We both camped along the road near the gate as it's considerably more level.

A note: Do not block the gate, as employees of the golf course that's on either side of this spot use it throughout the day, starting early.

Not really any usable Verizon coverage in the parking lot, but I had 4G down on the beach.

Report Check-In

This spot was beautiful! Even with the 40+ mph winds, and rain all night. Waking up in the morning to fog rolling in from the ocean with HUGE waves was so beautiful.

DO NOT CAMP OVERNIGHT ON THE BEACH unless you are VERY comfortable with the tide chart, this beach floods in high tide.

My dog loved running around in the morning, and we had the parking lot to ourselves. Will definitely be back.

Report Check-In

Stayed Oct 16 - solo in an RTT - was AMAZING! I was the only one on the beach. It was pretty windy, making it not ideal to cool so had an MRE while watching the sunset. The morning sunrise over the cliff was nothing short of miraculous.

I deflated my tires to about 18-20 and used my 4wD on the beach but I think you could make it with deflating. There’s a pretty ruff little hill getting onto the beach so I wouldn’t recommend 2wD.

Report Check-In

Beautiful isolated wild beach to camp at. 🌊🌌

Make sure you park your car and tent above the high tide mark! Otherwise the tide might come in and bury you deep 😬 Look for dry sand and plants.

Also, there is not exit south down at the state beach, and vehicles aren't allowed on the beach down there. I got yelled at 😔

Report Check-In

Perfect spot! Yes the parking lot is on a bit of a hill but we slept for two nights perfectly fine. And I’m a baby for a level spot. A bit of traffic but didn’t bother us any. Everyone is so nice. Access to the beach but we didn’t try to get
down it in our Astro Van as its pretty rutted and a little muddy, and we still had a nice view of the beach and sunsets from the parking lot. Overall would definitely stay again.

Report Check-In

Nice spot on the beach. No signs that say anything against overnight stays, or anything stating you need an oversand permit. Made it down the rough, somewhat steep, entranceway onto the sand in my RWD long wheelbase Sprinter no problems.

Report Check-In

Stayed on flat ground near one of the gates. A bit busy well into the night, but great sunset and amazing access to beach. Spotty 1-2 bars of T-Mobile LTE on the beach, but nothing elsewhere.

Report Check-In

Had a good night here. Decent amount of traffic heading to the beach during the night but overall peaceful.

Report Check-In

Great little spot to set up for the night. The parking lot is mostly incline so we pull up the hill a little bit and set up shop. 100 yards maybe to the beach which was empty but 1 fire off in the distance. Quiet and peaceful. Will stay again.

Report Check-In

Road to the beach was too narrow, steep, and rutted, was able to park on a flat dirt spot up the road where there is a gated road to the south.

Report Check-In

Road was pretty steep so we parked a little higher on the road. Still very close to the beautiful beach!

Report Check-In

Large beach accessable via one somewhat steep road. Vehicles allowed on the beach without time restrictions. The steep access way and the deep sand require 4x4, at least for coming out again. Watch the Tides, which can vary considerably. We camped 2 nights on the beach. AT&T 2bars.

Report Check-In

Indeed vehicles allowed on the beach (4wd needed). No no sign for overnight neither on the beach nor on the parking.
It is a very high tide beach so we didn't want to sleep on it. Parking lot pretty banked except for one place a bit upper on the road ( still a pretty nice view). Very quiet.

Report Check-In

Nice quite spot with beach access and views. The parking closest to the sand is rather steep and not great for larger rvs. We parked our 28' rv a little up the road on a flater spot without a problem. There are no signs about parking at all and nobody bother us even with our slides out and we stayed overnight.

Report Check-In

parking lot is a very steep angle! it is the approch to the vehicle beach access. we stayed here and used some wood under the tires to level ourselves out. alternatively you can park 100 feet further up the road to find more level ground. spot with ocean view and sounds. there is a beach access to drive down too. we were uneasy about the soft sand so we didn't try it. but there were lots of vehicle tracks. there are no "no" signs. looks like overnight stay is ok.

Report Check-In

Parking lot with beach access. Vehicles aloud on beach, check signage for rules and regulations.
