Description

We checked this area out based on the previous traveler's report but the area here, although close to the other one, is actually better. It is away from the street and quiet due to bushes and a bluff between this area and the street. The traffic control people mentioned this area. It is to the right of the public toilets and showers. There is a drive into a sandy road for a short distance. The area is large and has some good flat spots good for big rigs. However since the actual parking area will be full with cars during the day you may not be able to leave with a big rig until the cars leave in the evening. Be aware that you have to climb the curb to get to the sandy road. The view is spectacular. You hear the surf day and night so it should help you get a good night's rest. And the breeze here is continuous so wind blowing through your rig should keep you comfortable. We felt safe here and the traffic control people said the police frequent this area in the evening. Addendum: The police showed up one evening and said we cannot stay in this area because they can’t watch over us since it is out of the way and dark. They said to stay overnight in the parking lot and during the day to park on the dirt road. When parking in the parking lot at night, don’t park where the cars do but near the yellow curb as asked by the parking guys to do. As always enjoy your stay and practice keeping the area litter free.

Power outlets in the restrooms & there is a WiFi zone in between restroom buildings.

Ficamos aqui 6 dias e recomendamos!

Tried to come here. 40’ skoolie with relatively high clearance. Easily could have made it in. Plenty of room. HOWEVER, the parking attendants ran jumping in front of my bus as I pulled in (7:30PM after I waited 5 hours from the time I first passed by as a courtesy. Didn’t even try to pull in the first time because of all the cars.) the attendant told me that I couldn’t fit because I was too big. Then told me to call the police and ask, and if they were okay with it he was. However, this was after a very angry conversation between the both of us. We decided just to leave. Parked down the road a little ways on the shoulder for the night.

If you are looking for Mexico you won’t find it here. Cancun is so touristic that the Mexicans aren’t even friendly here. We left as soon as possible. So sad that this beautiful part of the country was ruined by rich people but hey, at least they all flock to the same places and leave the rest of us alone, I guess.

Amazing beach!! We spend 25 days here without problem, super safe, police patrol all the time, the view is fantastic!! Plenty of space to park. Free bathroom and outside shower during the day.

Report Check-In

We spend 3 nights here with out camper truck. We were told by other overlanders that we had to go over the steep curb to stay as we are big and would not be allowed to stay in the regular parking lot. No one else said anything but the national guards patrol all the time. Felt completely safe and the view is spectacular! Downside is the steep curb you might have to go over and the cars that might block this acces in the day.

Report Check-In

Just as described (both the wild camping & unofficial points on the IOverlander map). The parking monitors kindly asked we park our van on the other side of the street during the day because the parking lots are for small vehicles on Saturday and Sunday. We had no problem overnight parking in the beachside parking lots at night.

Warning: On the 4th night we had a scammer knock on our van at 3am. This man was dressed in all black attire with no official badges, there was no cop vehicle near by, and he did not look in our van windows with a flashlight (how previous cops have investigated us). He informed us there was a complaint, we were not allowed stay the night here, and a report was made. He wanted 8,000 pesos to settle the report or he would take us to the station and have the car impounded. We insisted on having no pesos after “searching” for pesos in the van, but we understood the complaint and would happily go to the station to pay the ticket. He then asked for money just for a coffee, and we kindly offered to make him coffee or he could have some of our snacks. Around this time, he said wasn’t necessary and he would resolve the report with no fine.
He was not a threatening person. We laughed together at different points in the conversation, and just went along with possible “outs” he gave. I assume we just gained some attention from staying at this location so long. There are several cars parked down the lots until late hours and overnight. No concern for safety here despite the potentially local scammer.

As the description says, the best place we found in Cancun, outsite showers (only water, not soap), toilets, Wi-Fi and Palapas on the beach, all for free. There are really three parking lots, we stay at thr one crossing the road, there is lot of space for any type of RV and some trees to have shade. Police pass constantly so we felt very safe.
