Description

Border crossing between Angola and Namibia. There is a new Angola immigration building, but they were not using it, they used the old building on the right (coming from the north). It is a very quiet crossing. The Angolan customs searched our vehicle extensively when leaving Angola (don't know what they were looking for). There were money changers that would take your Angolan kwanzas and give you Namibian dollars.

From Namibia to Angola. Everything as mentioned in the entery above. Namibia easy. Asked for yellow feather. They stepped out our CDP (our CDP was stepped in when we crossed from Zambia to Botzwana 7 months ago, then we were driving around Botzwana, Namibia and RSA without stamping CDP. And today the Katwiti custom had no problem to stamp us out, we just had to explain where to put a stamp ;)
Angola easy. Immigration stamped in passports fast, being from Poland we do not need visa. Custom issued TIP, we paid 6300 Kz. Friendly check of the car, no food issue, asked if we have guns ;) We changed 3000 NAD for 141000 Kz.

Namibia --> Angola
Everybody was very friendly and helpful. Took us 2 hours to cross. At the Namibian side, the customs officer needed some help filling in the carnet. And only a quick check of the car. At the Angolan side, we had to wait for someone who could speak English. But after that, everything went smoothly. At customs, they had problems with their computer, so that took really long (with many apologies from the officers). They made all the necessary copies, so no need to bring any of your own. Road tax was 6500 Kz or 200 NAD. They checked the car, but nothing special.
Next to customs, you'll find a guy who only changes NAD to Kz (or vice versa). We got 140.000 Kz for 3000 NAD. Insurance you can buy in Menongue.

Angola side, as mentioned full search of car and off road caravan. Very friendly. No issues with the meat or fruit we had. Namibia side also smooth and very friendly. Have 371N$ for the car, or Rands.

Nicest border crossing I ever experienced. They get very little tourists so they seemed to enjoy my arrival. No commercial traffic, so very quiet border.
I camped on the Angolan side of the border. Very safe. No fixer, only border officers living I small white houses.
Thd road from Menonge h
to Katwitwi is first 150 kms of asphalt then ut gets tough, but doable. Took me 10 hours. Its a cool experience but I really wouldn't want to do it during the rainy season. I did it on a motorcycle and struggled with the sand. Many lovely villages on the way. Very friendly people.
Entry to Namibia was equally easy. They stamped my Carnet. wanted 215 NAD for the road tax, but they don't take card or any other currency. I made a deal with some USD - made it a bit expensive for me, but nothing bad. On Namibian side it's perfect asphalt all thd way to Rundu. OBS. You can buy petrol at the border on the Angolan side. Just ask around. You will pay double price, but still ridiculously cheap compared to any other country.

Really quiet border crossing. As previous poster mentioned, the car was extensively searched on the Angolan side. Mostly out of curiosity, they don’t get many overlanders here. Quick checkout at immigration. Exchanged our last Kwanzas for a poor rate.

Namibian side was also quick and friendly. Showed our European vaccination certs (with 2 doses). Got the passport stamped, paid the road tax and instructed customs on how to fill out the Carnet. Police took a quick look at the car and let us go. Both sides done in an hour
