Peru
Very friendly cop, just ask were we have been and were we are going... seems to be a big action against trucks, like a 50 cops working at the stop.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Corrupt police - but was easy to handle. They wanted to write me a ticket for driving without light on which is not possible with a modern motorbike from europe. I explained and showed this fact. After explaning I was allowed to go, took 3 minutes in summary. But obviously they try to charge you from any stupid reason.
Report Check-InJueves 10 am pasamos el puesto de control, nos pararon y revisaron únicamente los papeles del auto.
Report Check-InGoing south from Lima, you can take a side road to avoid the Police Check. Go from the highway at the gas station PetroPeru and take the dirt road next to the highway.
Going back to Lima at noon, we didn't see any police men.
Good luck! RobJansenphotography
Report Check-InCORRUPT POLICE! We've read about this happening so much in South America but never experienced it ourselves until now. we had a crack in our windscreen and the police said we had to pay $500 deposit which we would get back once we get it fixed in Lima. We kept asking for a written fine, and he kept stalling. The price then went down to $100, and we kept asking for a written fine. He then said 'we treat foreigners well, give me some money if you feel obliged' and when we kept saying no, he eventually let us go. Don't give in, keep asking for a written note ans record them if they get pushy, there is literally nothing they can do to you, stand your ground! or better yet, avoid if you can
Report Check-Incorrupt police, asked us money for an inexistent problem with our car, be careful, avoid pass here if possible
Report Check-InWe drove by at 7:00am and nobody was there. No checkpoint, no police.
Report Check-InYes even on Sunday the police was there! They asked for passport, drivers licence and Soat. There was kind of strange feelings with this guy.. he was constantly looking at the light button, but my bf had his hand on it.. and after he put his scarf around his face.. it think he was thinking we were filming or... I don't know.. but he said everything was all right and we could go.. so take care!
Report Check-InThe same happened for us,
We have automatic lights in our car so they are on always, but still the police stopped us.
They ask what do we have at the back and in the second we turned our head and said “nothing” they did something in the lights and turned them off and then said “you where stopped because your lights was off”.
After few minutes when we explained them that our lights is always on and a little bit “no habla español” they let us go.
no friendly at all. be careful. they switched off our lights, and then say "look, it is off. there is a caméra there. you should have a ticket. but i can help you to pay less." we were completely sure that the light was on. don't switch off your engine, don't ton out of your car and Be patient. explain that you will pay at the embassy if they want to give you a ticket (they told us that we have to go the bank to pay them ahah). finally after 10 min, they let us go.
