Description

Boat ramp with a large paved parking lot. Parking allowed for 72 hours according to signs. Not sure if camping is officially encouraged. Definitely some boat launch traffic in the evening and morning, but not too disruptive. You can hear traffic from the large Dawhoo bridge next door. Pretty scenic for a parking lot. There's a concrete picnic table, but no bathrooms.

Latest Check-Ins

Arrived around 4:30 PM beautiful spot, lots of trucks with trailers. Around 10 PM place was completely empty. Deputy rolled up asked me to move to another spot in the parking lot. I was parked in a boat with trailer spot lol so I moved parked next to the building.. incredible night of stargazing, slept until 9 am the next day …

I pulled in about 6:45 in the evening, and had a Sheriff come up and tell me that no sleeping overnight was allowed at any boat ramp in S Carolina. He also said that right now, the parking lot is being used by employees who are working on dredging in the area, which I think is why they are cracking down. :(

Shame, as it seemed like a nice little spot.

Awesome spot. NOT big-rig friendly as you must have a boat in order to park in the long parking spots. Got in late, around 10pm. One other car pulled in around 1am and set up a coleman stove on a picnic near the boat ramp and cooked and hungout until about 2:30. It looked like a young couple having a late-night date. They were not loud and I felt safe the whole night. Sunrise in the morning was amazing. A real gem of a spot on beautiful Edisto Island. It seems like a growing number of camping spots on the southern coast of SC are banning overnights so please be sure to pack-in/pack-out so that this spot doesn’t get shut down.

Report Check-In

As described. I was woken up at 2 am by sherriffs who had no issue with my being there. Felt somewhat hostile, given that their arrival at 2 am despite the fact that they didn’t hassle me at all or have any issue with what I was doing. Gave the impression that the site may be formally closed to overnight car camping sometime soon, but as of now it is open for business.

nuit très calme. Un peu de circulation le matin avec la venue des pêcheurs, mais rien à signaler.

Beautiful and quiet, gorgeous sunset with some grassy areas and a picnic table too

Report Check-In

Got in around 6:30 and there was only one other truck in the lot. Didn't hear any road noise after 9 and woke up to 5 trucks and trailers, but no issues.

Having our coffee on the pier was greeted by 3 dolphins gathering their morning breakfast. Would come back if in the area.

parking lot next to the bridge with a boat ramp.

Overnight camping is allowed. DNR agent confirmed. They encourage you not to “appear” to be camping. You must park in one of the single parking spots. Don’t park in a boat designated spot. Just a little noisy early. Very quite all night.

Spent 1 night here with no issues. Quiet empty lot however you can hear traffic from the bridge. Close by to Edisto Beach, recommend stopping and check out the Boneyard beach in Botany Bay.

Easy spot for one night, beautiful sunset views and felt safe. Fishermen and boaters arrive early but that didn't bother us.
