Was here at 1900 on 18Jan24. Gate locked. The NM park website where you book site and pay, doesn't say anything about gate being licked at 5pm! Wish I had checked ioverlander i stead of the NM site... looked nice. Could have stayed in front parking lot, but left, too many car lights shining on me.

Lovely campground around the lake. Only $8 to primitive camp on lakeshore with short walk to flush toilets and showers. There are hookups if you want to pay more. Good cell signal

Report Check-In

Nice park, good showers. Rangers are not around much but they do keep the trash emptied.

Report Check-In

Plenty of spots for dry camping, tightly packed spots for electricity, some spots with palapa, table and water spigot, reserved or first come/first serve. No wifi but cell reception.

Peaceful one-night stay. Lots of camping options, from primitive ($8) to full hookups ($18). Most of the full hookups require online reservations, but it’s easy to hop on the website. Nice playground by full hookup area. It looks like the shower house is closed right now. We used the pit toilets, which were clean. Some swarming bugs at twilight (mosquitoes?), but they didn’t bite us. The shelters at the sites are really well done and help shield from the wind. We would stay again.

Great spot! Stayed here in a 30ft 5th wheel @ $14/day for hookup to electric and water. Communal dump station, bathrooms and showers 👍 Easy, pull-thru spots with fire pit and picnic table inside an adobe shelter. We stayed for 1 nite before dry camping for a week, and we decided to stay! Pulled our rig down to the lakeshore @ $8/nite and LOVED it. Quiet out here this time of year. Great bird-watching. The mountains behind the park were fun to explore. Close to town for services. Road gets pretty quiet at night, slept well. Take note of gate hours: arrive by 5pm in winter, 9pm for summer (May).

Booked “water only” site online for $10/might ($14 for electrify and water). Dump site at location that also has potable water.
After “booking fees”, my total for 3 nights averaged $14/night! Still a good deal.
Beautiful small lake. Nice views. Close to town that has a Walmart (no booze or tobacco though).
Shower (as in 1) was nice. Bench and room to change. Water was warm, but had very low pressure.
Very quiet. I loved it.

We booked a site and stayed the night -- not on the site we paid for, rather the small after-hours lot in the entrance of the park. We had no idea that the gate closes at 5pm and the park is totally unstaffed, so we couldn't notify them that we were stuck driving through a snow storm. No mention of this on the website.

We arrived at the park overnight, only to pull up to a locked gate. Trust me, after driving through the storm for 6 hours, we were more than disappointed. The little bit of the park we could see in the morning was beautiful, but we couldn't see much.

From the looks of it, they are in serious need of staff and volunteers.

We arrived after hours. During the winter, the gates close at 5:00pm. Ended up camping in the after hours parking right outside the gate. Nice, level gravel lot. Very little road noise until around 6:00am.

Good showers, first come primative camping. good campsites with water and shelters. electric area is just a parking lot.

$5 day use fee and $14 to book online $10 + $4 fee).

A nice campground that’s close to town. We weren’t sure if we had to make a reservation first (since it’s the off season)- everything online said “unavailable” and no one answered the phones- so we decided to just show up. There’s a pay station where you fill out a little slip to put in the drop box with your money. $8 for primitive (tent) camping, $10 for a developed site w/o electric with a fire ring and covered picnic table. The view of the water was beautiful and so were the stars. The sign said October- March(?) the water is shut off (and it was shut off while we were there), but there are pit toilets and port-o-potties still available (and there’s a Love’s down the road with $14 showers, $10 gray/black water dump, and free potable water). There is some traffic noise from the nearby road. We saw a car get stuck in the snow at one of the primitive sites down by the water so be careful if you choose that option.

nice lake, nice view, quite, lots of birds, price from 8 to 14$, picnik table, no trails, 1mile walk maximum

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay and reasonable prices - $10 per vehicle for established sites and $8 for "primitive" camping on the shore and you can fill up with potable water too :) We were the only ones here in the off season and it was very quiet and pleasant.

We stayed in a flat and level gravel lot right outside the gate since we arrived after hours. We were not bothered so we believe this is the point of this lot. It's close to the road but no real car noise until the morning.

The park has primitive camping on the beach and paved spots. Porta potties were available during the winter months. It looks like they have nicer bathrooms with showers open during other parts of the year.

We had full bars and LTE with Verizon.

Gem of a find. Wild meets loos, water and electricity. Stunning lake for swimming. Very quiet, beautiful views and clean and only $10.

Report Check-In

Nice views and friendly staff. Bathrooms were clean and showers hot.

Close to town and Walmart.

Definitely worth the $8 for primitive camping.

Downside... busy ( but still plenty of space between campers) noisy, but mostly vehicles coming and going and people enjoying themselves.

Not for those who crave isolation, but great if you want to get cleaned up and have chat.
