Description

Excellent spot by the river. Quiet, secluded. Free bathrooms, water fountain, and can plug in to the outlet on the lamps. If you’re camping or boondocking in this area, look no further. There are other rest spots in this area but this is far better. A local van dweller pointed us to this location and it did not disappoint. Has WiFi, slow, but works. Also has BBQ pits.

Latest Check-Ins

Stayed one night, was very tranquil with many wildflowers and migratory birds passing through. Located between a river and a longhorn paddock. The bathrooms were extremely clean. There is a sign saying there is a 24hour limit to how long you’re allowed to stay. Relatively level curbside parking in a pull off/ drive through style lot. There’s bbq and picnic area.

Report Check-In

Bathrooms were filthy when I visited but open and usable. There’s a small playground and picnic area. Quiet and peaceful was just me and one van. Pretty small parking lot though. 24/hr limit

Report Check-In

Bathrooms were clean and open all night. Only a few spots to park. Not a lot of traffic. Close to Luckenbach and the LBJ historical sites!

Report Check-In

This is a quaint, quiet, safe, secluded rest stop that is by a small park and creek. Less than a mile from highway. Dog friendly. Signage states can stay for 24 hours. This is good for a van or small trailer but NOT larger rigs because the parking area is small.

Report Check-In

nice. clean bathrooms. power not on. quiet right now.

Report Check-In

Stayed here one night, we arrived about 6pm, made dinner and went to bed. We maybe saw 10 cars pass by so pretty quiet. Not very flat but we are in a minivan so good for us. I would be reluctant to stay here during a windy or stormy night due to the amount of branches we saw on the ground. Bathrooms 24hrs with water fountain.

Not much to say that hasn't been already!
Had a nice chat with the maintenence man and he let me know that the plug was already turned on and completely "free and legal" to use.
Note that the area is fenced in and there's no easy access to the river. Great shade, though!

Adding some photos and amendments to review. The electrical outlets may only work once the lights come on in the evening. It didn’t work for us during the afternoon, so we fired up the gennie to recharge. Dusk brings out the wildlife! Tons of deer across the river, and in the rest area later on. Heard turkeys, but didn’t see them. Turtles sunbathing in the river rocks. Really enjoyed our night here. Very quiet over night, but quite a few vehicles going by and stopping in for pit stops during the day.

Report Check-In

This is definitely a great location! Not a ton of room for parking, but we got here when no one else was and were able to fit our truck and 25 foot trailer in leaving room for others. The one outlet on the one lamppost is not working. Seems the GFI is broken possibly. Wifi is good from the Texas DOT. There are lots of goat heads in the grass so watch your pups.

Report Check-In

Great little spot! I FINALLY gained service on Verizon in the town on the way here - Stonewall. It also has wifi provided by the TDOT. Quiet night. No problems. One of the cleanest, nicest rest areas I've ever been to. Way to go, Texas! Enough room for 3 rigs, plus 2 handicap spaces. I was the only one on a Wednesday night.

Report Check-In

Great little rest area by the river. Fairly quiet overall, we even plugged for the night. Spoke to the city workers emptying the garbage cans in the morning, one thought plugging wasn’t allowed but his supervisor confirmed that it was and told us that’s why this plug was here for.

Report Check-In

Stayed one night before going to LBJ ranch. There is a sign limiting you to 24 hours. One other van was also parked here. Quiet after dark. Tomorrow we plan to stay at the rest area on the other side of the park. There is also a 24 hour limit sign there.

What a find! We passed a very peaceful and quiet night. No one drives those roads after 11. We were even treated to a view of the full moon over the river. And wifi worked great.

So glad i chose to drive a little further and stay here over the Walmart at Fredericksburg. Peaceful and a great view to wake up to.

Report Check-In

Very quite, 15 minute drive to Luckenbach, many wineries close by. Clean restrooms!! Great boondocking spot.

Report Check-In

Fantastic spot to stop! Quiet, beautiful, and easy pull through. This would be a great one night stop for people visiting Fredericksburg.

Report Check-In

Very clean but well used so there is a fair amount of traffic. There’s a little farmers market shop in walking distance and the peaches are delicious. Play area for kids. Stayed one night and besides traffic we weren’t bothered.

Report Check-In

Exactly as described. One other motorhome arrived after we did. Quiet and peaceful. Good T-Mobile signal and decent OTA TV signal.

Report Check-In

Stayed one night. Got in late with 2 RVs already parked. Very quiet spot. Bathrooms were open. Good spot.

Report Check-In

Quiet and Pleasant. Arrived at 9:30pm and stayed for the night. Please be very careful driving here at night/sunset! We say about 30 deer and a wild hog in the last 30 minutes of our drive here!

There is 1 electrical outlet on the street light (by the fire hydrant). If you park right beside the light you'll only need a 15 ft cord to reach the outlet. Be advised: the outlet only works when the light is on (only at night). There are drinking fountains and sinks to fill water bottles or small jugs but there are no hose connections.

The restrooms were luxurious (to quote the title of this spot) and the view of the river was lovely! Definitely recommended if you're in the area!

Report Check-In

This place was great. Like most rest stops in Texas you can stay for up to 24 hours. Had it all to myself with the exception of many deer walking by the river. Felt very safe. The bathrooms were closed and I’m not sure why. Could have been the very cold temperatures. Would stay again if I’m back in the area.

Report Check-In

Wow. So much peace and quie. Strong phone signal. We were the only ones here… probably because it was Christmas Eve! Were in Fredericksburg then headed to Austin the next morning so it was a great spot. Perfect away from 290. Hardly any traffic. Another rest areas along 1 parallel to 290 not far from here that’s more spacious. And another pullout without facilities even further down 1. Pleasant scenic drive as well.

Report Check-In

Super nice place to spend a night on the road. It’s off the main highway so much quieter than I suspect the other nearby spot is. Unfortunately the water fountains were off in December but the bathrooms were open all night. Saw quite a few deer.

Report Check-In

This place is a little gem. We stayed here to take care of some small issues with our rig and do some cooking. The bathrooms were open and very clean. Nice and quiet night.

Report Check-In

Quiet. Small parking area, spots for 3 big rigs. WiFi is slow but useable. Bathrooms were closed. Lampposts were on when I arrived so I plugged my batteries in, but they went off after a few minutes and never came back on again.

Report Check-In

Small and quiet rest stop. Clean restrooms. Free WiFi. A dirtbag’s dry camping dream. Signs posted limiting use to 24 hours.

Report Check-In

Very delightful. Free TXDOT WiFi speeds are slow but good for emails and maps. Verizon is excellent here

Report Check-In

Quiet little rest area, beautiful countryside. Public toilets were open. No place to park except on the little u shaped bend where you pull off. One other vehicle, and a cop who pulled up in the morning to use restroom. Hot and humid mid July.

Report Check-In

Great spot!! Quiet. The facilities were clean. Would definitely car camp here again.

Report Check-In

The best in the area. Far away from the main road, clean toilets, picnic tables and wifi! We had the place only to ourselves.

Report Check-In

i just can repeat what already said. clean, quite (except some nuts on the roof ;)), nice area to walk the dog, wifi....
excellent!

Report Check-In

Excellent spot. Very peaceful. Great facilities. Free.

Report Check-In

really nice spot. there's a sign up that says you can stay up to 24 hours (most of the neighbouring rest stops say no overnight). very peaceful. there's a bit of road noise in the evening and morning but it gets quieter overnight. only downside is no spicket / somewhere to fill up the water. otherwise highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Nice spot, clean and quiet. There is a slight incline, but the top and bottom of the hill are fine. The outlet on the lamp only has power at night, when the lamp is on. Signs posted not to stay more than 24 hours.

Report Check-In

The parking is on a hill - if you don't have anything to level your rv don't bother coming here. Otherwise it's a very nice spot!
