you can absolutely pull off a night or two of quiet camping around here. arrive late, don't park in front of anyone's home, pretend you aren't in a vehicle, and depart early for the public lot at La Jolla Shores.

It's such a shame that this City is trying to ban all vehicle dwellers instead of targeting the specific behaviors or problems they find objectionable. we have to creep around and remain out of sight so that the well-heeled locals don't have to look at us. sadly, this attitude makes us nervous to actually get an Airbnb or hotel since we'd be worried about vandalism on our van while parked overnight in the street.

A dream for van lifers! The beach parking lot is open from 4AM - 10PM with showers and toilets. We parked at the beach during the day and then drove over to a nearby street and parked for the 6 hours it was closed. In the morning we had an awesome front row parking spot where we slept a few more hours with the windows open and gorgeous views of the beach. Great area for walking the dog and nearby restaurants.

same experience as others. quiet street parking. pulled into free beach lot the next morning to have my coffee, watch the surfers, and try the showers. there is also a a few cafes and eateries a couple of blocks away.

Good spot to camp. Quiet streets at night, park at beach parking lot during the day. Good cell service on T Mobile, able to work here during the day. Ocean and showers to get clean, lots of toilets that have been fairly clean as far as public restrooms go

Camped here for 2 nights in the neighborhood behind the beach parking lot. No “no parking” signs. Pretty quiet, but we got outta there really early both mornings. Rating this a 9/10.

There are many spots on the street to park. The best time is after 7pm. I hung out in at the beach parking lot until 830pm the came and looked for a spot. Kind of noisy but will do.

Still a good place to park. There are no signs restricting parking (besides street cleaning which is mostly Thursday’s). We got there after dark and left around 7:30am just as a courtesy to the homes around. The main issue locals have with people parking on their streets (even if you’re quiet and clean) is just the sight of your huge vehicle, which is understandable. The beach parking lot opens around 6am so we moved our van there.

Report Check-In

Main lot closed overnight. Check signs for street cleaning which as of today is every second and fourth Thursday. Quiet and peaceful neighborhood right near the ocean.
