Our camp site lies adjacent to the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve and the Bua River. Campsites boast barbecue facilities and roofed area for shade or rain. Customers can take walks down to various locations on the Bua River or the tributary that runs through our property. Trips into the reserve can be arranged for game drives and walks (subject to availability). Camping in the reserve is currently forbidden.
We have a comprehensive workshop and the best mechanic if required.

Great place with all you need.. very good Ablutions. Everything is working very well and the owners are very helpful and friendly!!

Really enjoyed our stay here! Loved the change in scenery from camping next to the lake to camping in Miombo woodlands.

Maybe not the best spot if you want to spend a whole day in camp as the sites don’t have big trees for shade - however it is a great place to spend outdoors, take a short walk to the river or cool off in the small pool and enjoy the bush surroundings!

Amazing ablutions with hot showers, wash-up area and a covered seating area with power points to escape the sun during they day at camp. Peaceful and quiet with only bush sounds at night. Beautiful short walks on the property to the Bua river and along the fence of the Nkotakhota National Park.

Could also fill our watertanks as the water at the campsite is potable!

Camping was 12$ pppn. Wifi available at 5$ at the restaurant, local beers at honesty bar for 2.5$.

As others have said, nice camping but overpriced.. Paid 29,000 Kwacha for two people for one night Dry bush sites and clean ablutions. Pleasant lounge with 3 m round plunge pool. About 50% more than other camping places with similar amenities that we have stayed at in Malawi.Very weak Airtel signal, we found out when we left that there was Wifi but we did not have the code so never tried it.

This place is really peaceful and nice and has good hot water. The bbqs have plug sockets beside each camping spot- but my plug didn’t fit in the space as it’s so close to the wall above it. There are plugs by the camping facilities too. It has a small pool and a bar with honesty tab. However i’m not sure it is worth $12 to camp.

The food is expensive at $15 for a main course or $25 for 3 courses. Breakfast is $12 (or $15, can’t remember exactly.) I turned up without a booking and could not have lunch and was very close to just leaving, especially as i’m vegetarian and was expecting them to give me some variant of rice and beans for $15. They offered to make me crepes with pumpkin, spinach and feta and took some off the price. The crepe was okay but the bread is absolutely amazing. Breakfast had lots of Greek yoghurt which was appreciated, as well as fruit, toast, eggs, lots of nice spreads, granola.

So- I’d recommend you do not come without a booking and I think best if you eat meat or agree a menu beforehand. It’s a nice place, good people, fairly good food but pricey.

very nice hosts and great compound.
the lodge area with restaurant is very beautiful and proper.
the campsite itself is tiny, seems a little bit poor and only small tents will fit under the roof. the abolition house is good, clean and there is a plenty of got water.
it's amazingly calm, because there's not much in the surrounding. the walk through the compound is nice, the 'resting spots' could be improved.
be aware of expensive restaurant service and no shopping possibilities nearby.
they are bulding up some cheap rooms at the campsite.
nice stopover, but wouldn't go there for 10$ pp/pn...

Based on the reviews we decided to stay at Rafiki.... the owner Sandi was great and friendly, the ablutions clean but the camping area did not live up to what one expected from the reviews.... little shade, stoney sites with a small grass roofed area for cover..... found way better accommodation 50km up the road on the lake for the same $10pppn.

Loved this place! The owners Sandi and Chris are very kind and welcoming. They also know a lot about the area and neighboring countries and therefore can give you good recommendations.
The whole place was very well taken care of. Some of the best sanitary facilities we've seen so far. You may also expect good quality and delicious food. It's worth having dinner here. Just need to order before, if you want to have dinner prepared for you.
The camping spots are nicely located with plenty private space around and sun shades.
We will be happy to come back!

What a wonderful place!! Camped here for the night. Arrived late so called ahead to order food - which was just incredible! The restaurant is beautiful and has a great feel - kitchen staff are wonderful and Johnathon even took the time to write out a recipe for us. Jorex the general manager is super nice and very helpful - he took us and our bikes in to town the following day. Sandy the owner is a lovely lady and was lovely to talk to. Facilities feel brand new with hot water. All in all a great place to stop - highly recommend.

Fantastic campsite and lodge. Best ablutions we have seen in Malawi. Hot showers from the solar geysers. The entire property is in fact off-the-grid! Everything is well maintained and clean. Delicious meals can be arranged through the lodge (with 4hours advance notice). The fresh homemade bread is fantastic! In case you have any car troubles, they have a fully functioning workshop with a car lift. The owners Sandi and Chris are incredibly knowledgeable about the area and can be contacted at +265999978503

Beautiful camp site. Very nice design and sparkly clean. 5 spots with your own covered sitting area. Chris, Sandi and their staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. If you camp close to the ablutions and you have a long extension cable (around 30 meter) you can connect to electricity. Very nice and again very clean swimming pool. Within minutes the staff was bringing cushions and towels. Temperature better than at the lake: less humid, fresh wind. If you want to spoil yourself, you can stay in a lovely safari tent room. Camping 10 USD pp, room 60 USD.

Formal Safari camp with chalets, self catering and camp sites in the bush. Well planned solar, water and layout. Friendly owners from South Africa. Some nice walks. Not sure on future rates due to this facility only recently opened. We paid $5pppn. This is a nice break from the lake.

Our camp site run adjacent to the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve and the Bua River. African Parks took over the running of the reserve and have completely stopped camping in the Wildlife Reserve.
