Roadside picnic area on Tx 385 70 miles north of Big Bend National Park. Per Texas state law, parking permitted for 24 hours. Traffic noise during day but quiet at night
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Nice spot for future reference. I didn’t spend the night but could easily.
Report Check-InGreat place to overnight near Big Bend if you are out of luck booking camping closer. Close to HWY and small, maybe fits 5-6 rigs. Stayed 1 night no issues.
Report Check-InNice spot to spend the night. Kinda decent signal, it was come & go. It's spring break so it was full when I got here at 8pm but there is level space right by the road that I parked with no problems besides the van shaking with ppl driving by.
Report Check-InPlanned to stay. Pulled in with my A. Leveling would be a challenge. Space was nominal for anyone to get by me. If anyone parked blocking me, I'd be trapped.
Moved on.
Report Check-InNice place to park overnight. Two picnic table areas with trash cans. There is an area designated for pets. About 4 established places to park a vehicle and 1 good for a tent in the corner. Heard a handful of vehicles drive past on the main road. 2 came through the picnic area at night with no disturbances to us. As you’re driving toward big bend national park the turn is on your right but it’s a sharp turn so slow down as soon as you see the picnic area sign a mile down the road.
Report Check-InNice roadside with trash cans and picnic tables. Only us and one other vehicle there. Clean!
Report Check-InThis is a great spot if you couldn’t get any reservations for Big Bend NP. It’s about an hour away from the entrance to the park. We were there on a Monday night and barely had any traffic going by, especially after the sun set. The rest stop can fit maybe a handful of cars or one or two larger vehicles, but it isn’t large enough to fit much more than that. It does have two picnic benches and a trashcan!
Report Check-InAs others have described. Some traffic throughout the night, but it's very sparse and overall pretty quiet. With T-Mobile, I intermittently had one bar of 5g, but it wasn't really very usable. Often, when trying, the service would disappear altogether. Overall a pretty good spot near Big Bend to sleep.
Report Check-InThis was a beautiful place to stay we decent service on Verizon and T-Mobile. Nice picnic tables and grill. It felt secluded with little traffic.
Report Check-InNice location, but space only for 2 RV (maybe 4 crowded). Big rig can fit without opening the side extension.
Report Check-InShout to Miss Kitty, fellow Road Person, boon-docking behind us. Excellent overnight stop, 2 picnic pavilions, grills, and trash containers. The night sky is dripping with stars, no light pollution and it is the most quiet place I have been to in months. No noise except a rare vehicle cruising by. 24 hour limit, don’t overstay. Highway patrol cruised through with a friendly wave. Beautiful landscape snd natural light. What a great area!
Report Check-InGreat spot to overnight. Very quiet, as others have said. Verizon for me was not as good as another commenter has said. “Get off your phone!” some might say, but I work from the road and need a decent signal, so…
Report Check-InSmall but neat and tidy picnic area with two covered tables with trash cans. Also with a strong Verizon signal and one FM frequency: NPR at 93.5. This is the road to the park 60 miles away so traffic is light and sparse. A very nice stop with a delicious pizza from the junction at Marathon.
Report Check-InNice some road noice but supposed to be quite at night. Picked a a few pieces of trash but very clean
Report Check-InIf you want to get early to the Big Bend NP, you can park overnight here. You can not park more than 24 hours. Very quiet. We were 2 motorhomes for the night.
Report Check-InRead reviews below! A bit noisy with cars passing, but not bad. Great sunrise view and good Verizon reception!
Report Check-InThere are no facilities, this is a road side rest stop. We pulled in about 2 am camped for the night it was a cold 27 degrees. There were a few campers already parked there was maybe room for 3 more rigs. Quiet at night, felt safe here. We got up early had our oatmeal and left by 9 am. Perfect place to stop if your too tired to drive the rest of the way to Big Bend.
Report Check-InPretty budget tbh. 24 hr use area. No tents allowed. Slept in our bigjeep. A classic TX no public lands meh bivvy
Report Check-InYep. This spot works! Roadside with two picnic tables. Quiet with the occasional passing car. I got okay service with T mobile and a booster.
Report Check-InGreat spot to stay outside big bend for a night, beautiful views in all directions.
Report Check-InAbout 30km after this picnic area heading to Big Bend NP, there is a pulloff with a Historic Marker, where one could stay, with place for two 20feet rigs. Directly next to the road. We didn't stay there, saw it on our way to the National Park.
Report Check-Inla place est parfaite. couché de soleil magnifique. On est arrivé vers 17h les premiers avec une roulotte de 25 pieds et il y avait encore de la place pour 4-5 van ou camper 😉
Report Check-InBeautiful overnight spot. Gorgeous morning views and very little noise overnight - with the exception of the occasional car driving by.
Report Check-InPerfect stop for a first night before entering Big Bend Park. Decent AT&T signal once I found a sweet spot where to put my phone.
Report Check-Ingood one, quite (except a camper who arrived late and wanted everyone knowing that :D) , amazing stars!, border patrol is using it for parking so really not more than 2 or 3 rvs.
Report Check-InPicnic area is right off the road so is noisy in the morning but quiet at night. Safe spot to pull in for the night. Entrance to Big Bend NP is about 45km away. 2 other campers here with us. Wouldn’t fit more than 3 campers.
Report Check-InQuiet off road picnic area that allows 24 hour stay, no tents allowed. BBQ grill and picnic tables. Also an interesting landmark in the US - Los Caballos.
Report Check-InRoadside picnic area on Tx 385 70 miles north of Big Bend National Park. Per Texas state law, parking permitted for 24 hours. Traffic noise during day but quiet at night
Report Check-InPicknick area and historical marker parking. It is a small parking lot, max 3 vehicles, not for big trailers. You can stay here max 24 hours. Next to the road. Few traffic during the day, very quiet at night. Tents and shelters are not allowed.
