Mexico
We arrived at the end of the day on the Tropic of Cancer site, everything was closed. a flat car park is just behind a bit up and away from the road. a little traffic in the early evening but very quiet night. Location that helps for one night.

Pulled in after dark to find an amazing dark sky with bright stars and an empty lot. The bathrooms were open with flushing toilets and sinks. I had an emergency with my deep cycle batteries so I parked my 22' C Class next to the ofrenda and plugged my RV to an outlet inside to get a charge. I used a 15' RV extension cord to reach with extra cord available. My volt meter said L and Neutral are reversed and I find that a lot in Mexico. No one was around except a few drivers who stopped briefly and then conducted on their way without bothering me. I had no problems here and my dogs enjoyed eating cow poop.
Report Check-InThe empanadas is awesome too! Love the ice cream with many new flavours and generous portions.
Report Check-InGreat spot to crash camp for the night. Park in the back lot on the south side of the visitor center. You will know it is the visitor center because of the large well lit atrium dedicated to the Virgin Mary. If you pull into the back the lights will not be bad at all. Quiet and felt safe. Did have cell service at this site.
Report Check-InThis was a fun little detour for us after Santa Rita hot springs. Just south of El Torre, it’s a helpful little informational site about the Tropic of Cancer. Tiny museum, bigger-than-a-person model of the globe you can walk around.
We went there for the ice cream (“nieves”). There’s a small roadside stand that doesn’t look like much, but he has about 30 flavours of ice cream. And he’s generous with his portions. :-)
Report Check-InA must see point! The Tropic of Cancer Line goes here! It was very important moment for us during our long road trip from Arctic Circle in Alaska.
