There are numerous spots along this road for all types of camping. Initially the land is very flat but once you enter the refuge it begins to climb upwards. I doubt there's a bad spot anywhere along this road. The views are fantastic from the large parking lot at the end of the road. There's a "campground" host at the entrance to the refuge. No fees here.....14 day limit.....dispersed camping.

Fabulous free camping. No amenities, the view is vast, beautiful, and changing through the day. Huge flat level parking area just off Palm Canyon Rd, and it’s easy to get far from the road. 1 bar ATT and 5Ge. Minimal shade, but quite breezy and comfortable. Small amount of vehicles passed during the day. Great place for one night, or several. Pack it in, and pack it out, please.
Report Check-InI haven’t stayed overnight, however there is some good hiking up the canyon and even when it was cloudy in Yuma there was a big blue hole in the sky up here. Great place for a warm solar shower on a late winter day!
Report Check-InGreat area, very peaceful & quiet. plenty of other campers around but all very well spaced out. Beautiful views & roads are in decent condition, had no problem finding a great spot in my van. TMobile coverage was decent.
Report Check-Inour favorite spot in all of az to camp for free. beautiful views and very quiet but people around, not close but you feel safe to leave the rig and explore the area. lots of spots, all the way up the road to the trail head, ok for all rigs from vans to big 5th wheels.
Report Check-InJust off the highway but little to no road noise only a mile in. Didn’t make it any further as I found a nice and level secluded spot for the night. Great Mountain View’s.
Report Check-InLittle gravel road at the beginning. Then a solid dirt and rock road. Perfect for any vehicle. no high clearance needed. Some Verizon service. Busy on weekends. Gorgeous mountain view
Report Check-InLots of excellent Boondocking spots just before you enter the refuge. Good AT&T and Verizon coverage. Big Rig friendly. Nice mountain biking up to the queen canyon. Simply a nice spot.
Report Check-InCamping in a desert valley. Nice views of the mountains. Tons of spots. 2-3 bars Verizon. Long bumpy gravel road in, by passable in any 2wd.
