Description

Great hostel, with a river in the backyard and just minutes from beautiful beaches! (4 minutes to a swimming beach & 10 for surfing). Access to kitchen, toilets, showers, WiFi, electricity for charging phones etc, pool, river, plus they’ll provide towels and soap if you need.

We went on the recommendation of some local friends and it turned out to be a brilliant spot. It’s just off the main road, so super easy to reach, but because of the amount of nature around, you really don’t hear the road. Plus you have access to a beautiful river to cool off in (just meters from the front door!)

Camping is on a grassy area just outside the hostel, but as the road dead-ends at the river, it’s not a through-road so you’re just parked in the middle of the jungle, it’s great!

$25 for two people with car (additional $5 pp for extra people in the same car).

Also, to a laundry machine (wager & dryer). $6 of you do it yourself, $12 if you leave stuff to be washed.

Mari and Fabio (Costa Rican / Swiss couple) are brilliant. Super welcoming and have lots of info about places nearby, including a beautiful waterfall.

Definitely recommend.

we chose this place because they had electricity we could fill up water and a swimming pool. Once there, the owners were not present, but the friendly chambermaid indicated that we could park and that the owners would be present at the end of the afternoon. Once laid out, we took a dip in the pool, which unfortunately did not provide any cooling because the water was so warm. it was extremely sweltering due to the high humidity, the heat and no wind. We had to cool our dog in the outdoor shower of the swimming pool. After 2 hours of arrival the owner came, which was not a very warm welcome, the dog had to be on a leash and it was said that our dog was in the pool, which was not correct. the price for an overnight stay is $35 for 2 adults and 2 children, which is quite a lot for the place because we could not fill up water or use electricity because its to expansive, even for an additional fee.
We could use the showers and toilets, the full kitchen and received towels. the next morning we left early to charge our batteries after having the air conditioning on all night. When we left there was no one to say goodbye

nice birds

Stayed overnight as we saw a pool in the comments. Fabio is a nice host. Also a little ‘natural’ pool on the river. Wifi reaches campground as we were in the far end. They also provide towels for showering, which is really nice so you don’t need to use your own. Due toilet problems we had to use one of the rooms. Kitchen was the cleaniest I saw in Costa Rica. Would highly recommend.

We stayed 2 nights in April as we went on a diving trip with MCEC at the end of the road and we were able to leave our tent set up for the day. It was very quiet only one other camper the first night and a couple of families the second. Was great to park next to covered porch and kitchen as it rained one evening. Kitchen and bathrooms were very clean - we paid $25 per night for 2 people. Highly recommend

Report Check-In

As described, price is almost worth it just to use the very clean kitchen and swimming pool.

Lovely. Fabio is a super host. Beautiful place to stay, with a swimmingpool. In the middle of the jungle! Saw monkeys, Jesus lizard and a tolomuco at the river. Very clean!

Report Check-In

This place is nice and rather expensive. It may be worth the money if you are the only campervan there, as you can place your vehicle on flat solid gravel near the pool and the green. Any further large vehicles have to park more in the back where the ground is uneven, soft/muddy and with high grass and leaves/branches laying around (beware of snakes). Being a „second guest“ is not worth the money.

We are so glad we stopped by here. This is luxury but worth it. The whole area is incredibly clean and it is so nice to have a shared kitchen to use and hang out in (especially when it rains). The pool is lovely and you get your own private river too. Wildlife is in abundance and you’ll even spot toucans feeding off the trees when you’re doing your washing up. We felt the price for laundry $4 wash $4 dry very reasonable (there is also a line to dry)- cheapest we’ve found in Costa Rica so far, and the machines are huge. Wifi is fast and reaches your camper. If you want to splurge out on a room, which our family did when visiting us, it is recommended. They paid $50 for a family of 4- the rooms were beautiful and showers hot.
Marycruz and Fabio are wonderful hosts. Contrary to the last post, we would definitely recommend staying here.

The night was quiet. The pool is mini-size. But it's far too expensive. They charge 25 USD + 5 USD for electricity (without air condition!) and they demanded 20 USD!!! for filling up our tank from their tap (100l). We are travelling since two years through the Americas and since weeks in Costa Rica but never made the expierence with such mistrusting from the owner to their guests. Strictly no recommendation.

good place to stay. you can negotiate the price to 20$ instead of 25$!
the older is cool.
you have a place to cook in case of heavy rain as we faced! you can also enjoy the pool and the river.
we were not lucky as they had issues with the water. but normally you can access toilet and shower. wifi too.

Once again, I will admit to becoming a bigger fan of order now that I have been in Central America for a few months. Fabio and Mari have created a great refuge here. My wife and I really like it and will gladly tell you that it is worth the money.
