Description

Outside the town of Tequila, you drive through a narrow dirt road. At a fork in the road, there is a wide flat area, surrounded by agave fields, great for boondock camping! Owner of the surrounding land said gave his ok, as did all other passersby.
very quiet and peaceful.

Maybe not the good day may be not the good night ! We stayed here for one night, at midnight , group of peoples came with music. At this moment nothing really bad ! But I checked at window to see what happen : I saw many guys, they were hitting another man , yes they were hitting him!! First time in Mexico where we felt unsafe ! They left after few minutes ! So be careful here !

The icing on the cake : the famous “local guide” is name Andres or André, if he is on your way to go to the cascade he will ask you the money to show your the way ! We refused to give money because we knew the way to reach the cascade, so he followed us, wait with us at the cascade , followed us again until reach our skoolie and asked again money for the night , we refused again and we sayed that we did not stay here ! So he left but very angry ! This guy works in the agave field ! So be careful here !!

Stay here 2 night, quiet and very safe. start of hiking to see a waterfall, very nice

Report Check-In

Parking for waterfall hike. Surrounded by agave plantations. Felt safe, very quiet. Lots of hikers passing by in the morning.

Report Check-In

Difficult road with a rv not feel safe here,

Report Check-In

We stayed here for two nights. No problems at all, a short walk into the city centre for the festivities of town and another short walk to the waterfall.
We were in a 24 foot old RV and it made it down the roads (but they are tight and cobblestone so be careful!)
When walking to the waterfall, follow the trail down past the parking lot, there will be a fork after about a mile on the trail, if you go right there is a sweet swimming hole, left is the waterfall (a bit treacherous the climb down but doable!)

Report Check-In

Safe spot for a night. The track to waterfalls is steep with many forks (keep to the left) but doable even with kids. Take your swimming suits as you can swim in the pool under the falls.

Nice spot to spend a night. Our truck camper is 11’6” tall and we were able to get here. We just had to pick and choose which roads we took in the town to get to the road that takes you to this spot.

Report Check-In

Super quiet and safe. Workers in the fields and hikers arrive in the late morning. We will definitely go back. Very pretty agave fields and scenic.

Report Check-In

When we got there, we asked a local passing by on his horse whether it was okay if we camped here. He said it wasn’t safe at night. Not sure why (and a bit later somebody else told us it was perfectly safe), but we ended up camping elsewhere.

Nice quiet spot, parked here early afternoon and did the waterfall hike, then went back into the town of Tequila and did some exploring. Came back here to sleep, there were still a few hikers in and out in the evening, and some workers early in the morning, but it was fine. Beautiful scenery with the agave fields, the road is a little rough to get here but cars drive down it fine, felt safe.

Report Check-In

We camped here one night in our van. Felt safe and was really cool sleeping in agave field. Drive in from town is a little iffy, streets are narrow and there is a lot of action but if you are patient and confident you will be fine.

Report Check-In

Parked here for two nights with no issues. Some foot traffic during the day from field workers or hikers but no one bothered us. Some roosters, barking dogs and music from across the fields but nothing out of the ordinary.

Report Check-In

very bumpy road no one could tell us if this was safe. left for not feeling comfortabel

Report Check-In

We slept one night. very quiet and safety.

Dormimos una noche, muy tranquilo y seguro.

Report Check-In

Solid location to spend the night. Super quiet. It's not exactly a parking lot, simply a turn around that can fit one or two cars next to this abandoned shed. Woke up and got some incredible sunrise photos of the agave fields, then did the hike to the waterfall (which requires a bit of trial and error to find, but is totally doable)! Great experience.

At this time of year huge gnat population here. Loud music across the valley until the wee hours on Friday night on Día de Los Muertos weekend. Otherwise quiet.

As described below. The reality is the trails to the falls are very steep and there are many forks so easy to get lost. Andres offered to guide us which we refused. Then we took a wrong turn and he had followed us and got us back on track took us to the falls. I offered him $200mx as a tip and he said he gets $200 per person. That seemed high to us for 1.5 hrs but I paid him that. He did take us right there. The trail was super steep and difficult for our 13 year old golden. We had to lift her up and down many rocks that were a scramble for my 66 year old body. But the pool is awesome and the falls are a spectacle. Andres told us camping here is ok but workers show up early to work the agave fields and I think he said they will set up a stand to sell snacks and sodas on the weekend.

Super chill spot. Had a couple cars drive past at around 9:30pm, then hikers showed up at around 7am.
Nobody bothered us and we felt pretty safe!

Report Check-In

Wonderful place to stay. Very close there a pool in the forest, cascades and the river. Plus you have privacy and 4G.

Report Check-In

Great spot. The gates next to the open area were open and the people said we could park inside. Great night. great views. No toilets. No security but felt safe !

Report Check-In

Good and wild place to pass the night, you spend the night in agave fields.

Report Check-In

No problem staying overnight. We hear the passing train at night with horn. It is very authentic. good place.

Report Check-In

As mentioned in other comments, turnaround/parking for the cascades. Lots of people walking past but the foot traffic stops by 8-9. Quiet at night, some workers starting in the agave fields at around 6-7am. Phone service good.

Report Check-In

We stay here two nights If one visits Tequila it is a good place to spend the night, although it is not very pretty, but still pleasant to stand. In the evening there are many people walking to the waterfall and in the morning people working in the fields, often with loud music.
Nevertheless a good place!

Stayed two nights here. Super quiet just outside of center of Tequila. Safe and secluded- dead end road in between agave fields and in front of trailhead. Few passerby’s- all smiley. Hiked the falls twice because it’s so beautiful.

Report Check-In

We slept here for 1 night, felt very safe except for the scary shaking of our van in the middle of the night. The culprit? A horse looking for a scratch post!! Left a big muddy smear mark across our van too haha. The falls are tricky to find but a nice walk, the man made pool was empty, we didn't swim in the small falls as quite musdy from previous nights rainfall.

Report Check-In

This place isn’t accessible for big rigs, especially if your rig is higher than 3,20 meters.
