OLD comment:
Road is bad, so....
We even turned around and choose an alternative route to Abidjan through Yabayo and Gagnoa. Here the quality was good.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Road has been fixed and is in perfect condition from San Pedro to Abidjan. Been driving there back and forth for 6 months and no issues to report.
Report Check-InUnder reconstruction and narrow, still unpaved between Fresco and Lahou, partially from Lahou to Youpougon.
Report Check-InAs it’s said before, it’s all changed now ! Thanks to the CAN organisation, the road is brand new between San Pedro and Abidjan, what a pleasure :)
Report Check-InRoad is brand new. And I m talking about "european" road quality, not "chinese" like in Guinea ! Definitly the best road since Morocco, starting from San Pedro until Abidjan. West of San Pedro is still a bit damaged but nothing complicated. End of December 22, there were still some parts waiting to be asphalted but we still could drive at 50/60 km/h easily on those parts. Locals were going 80, they dont care. Dont be afraid of La Côtière anymore !
Report Check-InWe did "la côtière" during these last 3 days. Really bad road with big holes from San Pedro to Sassandra : 70 km in almost 3 hours.
From Sassandra to Grand Lahou: bad road, a little bit better! 70 km in 2h30.
The last part from Grand Lahou to Abidjan :very good!
So if we have an advice: dont make it if it is raining and you really need a 4x4, patience and time! :-)
Report Check-Incorrection: later I found out that the road is indeed a rollercoaster in some cases. Consider going here by car. Bike however is doable.
Report Check-Infor biking this road is no problem. there are a few holes, but mostly flat asphalt.
Report Check-InAlthough it's marked as a highway due to industrial traffic it became a piste with enormous wholes.
For our bus it was only possible in walking spend and other cars we not going faster then 25 km/h.
We even turned around and choose an alternative route to Abidjan through Yabayo and Gagnoa. Here the quality was good.
