Description

Rain was pouring during the entire process. We crossed the border from Thailand to Cambodia at the Koh Kong border post today. The process was chaotic but friendly. Thai side took 1 hour, Cambodia 1.5. CdP was not needed. The Cambodia TIP was made for us, but you can now do it electronically yourself. We paid THB 1700 per person for the visas and THB 20 per person for a health document. Photos were not needed. The process was mainly chaotic on the Thai side. Officials kept asking for a document we never received, gave conflicting instructions and sent us back and forth between the same windows. Staff in civilian clothes tried to translate and to guide us. Eventually they made pictures of all documents we had and let us go after we confirmed that we wouldn't return via the same border crossing. The Cambodian side was more organized. We let someone in civilian clothes arrange our visas who in hindsight appeared to be a fixer who seriously overcharged and insisted on getting THB. The correct steps would have been as follows: (1) Show vaccination documents at window a (2) Buy a visa at window b (3) Let Immigration stamp your visa at window c (4) Get or show your TIP at window d (5) Provide Police with all driver and vehicle information again at window e All officials wear uniforms and work from behind windows. Don't deal with civilians.

Crossed border on 27 from TH-CAM; You need to go to several palaces and getting stamps, but they are friendly and always tell you what to do next, its 5 diffenrent paces but all very close to eachother. They also stamped my carnet out, didnt know how to do but i helped them a little. Khmer is about the same system, there are fixers who help you for a small fee. You can do the TIP online yourself, but need to register before an you need a Khmer phone-number. They also stamped my carnet into cambodia, same issue, they didnt know how to do. But they do speak descent english and are friendly. Both sides together to me 2 hours (mainly the online-app from khmer customs took me like 45 minutes)

Report Check-In

Customs and Immigration for Thailand and Cambodia. This station handles both people and vehicles. Both sides were relatively efficient. Crossing time (Cambodia to Thailand) for both myself and my motorcycle was approximately 45 mins. Standard documents, nothing special, I had insurance but was not asked for the document.
