Description

At the first 2km easy access to several places right at the lava fields-doable with a 2WD; many places with fire rings; further east there are much more places but watch for soft sand patches! A beautiful place to stay and great hiking opportunities.

this pull off was also great! the initial spot we were looking for was already taken! beautiful camp spot very quiet and gorgeous views. sad we couldn’t stay longer.

a packed sandy/rocky road a ways off the main rd. slightly sketchy but went slow and made it in 2wd promaster. totally worth it. beautiful sunset and felt so isolated! i was bummed i forgot wood but someone previous left 2 bundles at the fire pit!! there were 30 mph winds but the lava field gave us good cover. recommend just drive safe!!

Quiet spot about a mile from the road. sand is packed well and had no trouble driving my GMC Vandura to the site. I like the lava rocks are here because it helps block the wind a bit but there's a great breeze flowing.

Took out 40’ Bus down to the first set of campsites. If we can make it anybody can. I wouldn’t recommend much further down without 4WD. Beautiful spots, quiet, isolated.

As described. I got to this site without any issues (2WD Sprinter) but the sites past this require driving across a wash that is sandy enough to be a problem in some places. If you go there, plan your route carefully. Not recommended for regular clearance vehicles.

One of the nicest spots I have ever found to boondock amongst the black lava rocks. Would not want to go too far in with 2wd.
