nice place, flat spot, no traffic at night.
Don’t think I would bring a big rig here, the rocky dirt road is narrow.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
As mentioned by others. Good flat spot about 100 meters from the soccer field towards town. Quiet and no cars passed by after about 7pm.
Report Check-InNice level spot. Just before you get to the soccer field. No thorns, quiet and really good sunrise.
Report Check-InStayed at the football field just past the tree. Was a quiet night. If you are using google maps, make sure to just follow the Santa Rita signs as google maps will try to take you on a different road.
Report Check-InNot sure if we were at the right big tree, but we stayed at a big tree further toward Santiago about 5-8 minutes than the iOverlander location on the side of the road with no issues. I think maybe the original post was for the big tree right outside the entrance to Rancho Santa Rita, along with the dried up soccer field people mention. Not sure if it’s new, but both those places are inside a gate now that has a big newish sign saying “pay for environmental area,” so I think you probably shouldn’t camp there anymore. Plus the soccer field appears to be on the rancho property, which is a bit rude. Find the other tree beside the road in, kind of in a riverbed! Good luck!
Report Check-Instayed at the football field (because we couldn't find the tree, next morning we see it's just a bit more further down the road towards the town).
Fresh air and fresh cow shit, love the combination. Quiet and safe spot, some locals said hi in the evening. After dark we seen no more people.
Report Check-Ingreat place. visible from quiet road. nobody has stopped or said anything yet. don't forget to hike upstream from the hot springs (pools and falls)
Report Check-InSame as previously noted- the road getting here is challenging-rocky dirt road- wide enough for one vehicle, we were hoping not to encounter anyone else on the road.
Report Check-InSame as previously noted. Perfect for a night after the hot springs.
Report Check-InNice quiet spot with some cows around. You can also go on the old soccer land next to it, lots of room there
Report Check-In*Stayed at the village down the hill (San Jorge) to play with kids on the field.
Visited this spot and was impressed. Nice flat area with fire ring. It felt good to be there.
Follow the signs to Santa Rita, don’t follow Google.
Nice and flat, totally quiet with the rooster chorus waking you up in the morning together with the occasional bell from goats and cows. Lots of dried cow patties on the ground. They won’t let you stay at the hot spring if you have dogs.
Report Check-InGood spot if you have dogs and you can't camp down by the hot springs
Note: this is also where a herd of local cattle sleep so you may be sharing your camp with them! They are pretty chill though
