Nicest spot for summer heat and seclusion but is quickly being ruined by people leaving trash and vandalizing. There were used condoms and beer cans everywhere. With broken glass all over to top it off. Picked up everything I saw. Someone stopped and let me know it’s his private land but he doesn’t mind me staying as long as I’m not leaving trash and spray painting. Not looking like a partier is probably the best way to be allowed to stay. I was able to get pretty level, minimal Verizon coverage, would send texts but nothing else. The tree coverage helps it stay pretty cool. There are a couple climbing routes right near here so if you climb that’s nearby too! Let’s connect on Instagram!
Pullouts along the road up to and past Gibraltar Rock. If you take Gibraltar road and follow it up towards Gibraltar Rock there will be many pullouts on both the left and the right. Quiet road and no one up there to bother you.
Beautiful spot overlooking Santa Barbara and the ocean. There is also Gibraltar Rock right next door with a few nice routes for the area for those who rock climb.
No bathrooms. Fire/camp stove ban so just respect that rule- seems like a very dry area.

At a smaller pullout below the one indicated on map. Upper one had a car & then construction equipment.

Report Check-InTHIS WHOLE MOUNTAIN SIDE IS PRIVATE LAND! Native land!! We had the person who owns the property stop us to tell us to kindly leave.
Report Check-InOne of many pullouts on this road. Fantastic spot to spend the night! Quiet, amazing view
Report Check-InWe stayed at the second pull out (the one after the “no shooting” signs). Has Verizon service, beautiful location over looking the ocean, city and mountain range.
As said in previous reviews, road is steep and curvy. Bikers going up and flying down so watch for them.
As mentioned, there are many great pullouts on this road. Not sure if this is exactly where we stayed but it is close enough. We came to one of the road pullout/overlooks after bailing on what seemed like an amazing spot tucked under the trees right next to Gibraltar Rock- caution: there were about a million ground bees everywhere. The other spot was fine- on road but insane views, cell service.
Report Check-InFantastic views over the city. Several pullouts along the road up which is quite windy and steep. No signs prohibiting overnight stays noted. Quiet. Lots of trash in the bushes where we stopped (not at these exact coordinates), please keep it tidy so it stays open to overnighters. Good AT&T cell service.
