Description

We were trying to find a place on our way to Huaraz, and this spot was the best. You have to ask to the owner Jorge, he owns a tienda, and sell beers, after a long drive it was perfect. Flat ground, we were a van and a tent, some tables.
Also cold shower and toilet available.

Arrived on a Sunday afternoon, Jorge welcomed us. Perfect place for a night in our campervan. We bought drinks and cookies from Jorge and rounded up the price generously so he got something additional for the camping.

The famous Jorge wasn't there. So we cannot really comment on what others have experienced in this place. For us it was okay. But is really close to the road and there were several people and a car enjoying the free WiFi next to our tent. so it took a while before we could finally tuck in. No running water and thus no shower. We also asked about the beds inside who someone commented that would be there. but there was nothing according to the guy who was there instead of Jorge. So all in all considering there is not much in the Canon it is fine for the night.

Jorge is a very sweet person. This is a good place to stay. The night was silent, because the traffic stops for night. Jorge has wifi nowadays. You can buy cold drinks from his shop. Recommended!

We had a really lovely stay with Jorge, he is such a wealth of knowledge about the area and its history and is so, so welcoming.

As of Sept 23, facilities are a bit rough, bucket flush toilets. The showers weren't functioning. Camping is right next to the dusty and remarkably busy road. All of that is more than made up for by Jorge's warmth, his stories, and his tour of the orchard. The beers were cold and delicious too. We had a very peaceful night and long morning the next day chatting.

He loves receiving travellers, but since the pandemic, Peruvian unrest, and storm earlier this year that damaged the road, traffic is way down. Help him out and stop by. Payment for camping is voluntary, but please contribute something fair. He also has a room with 4 beds in it for rent for 20 Sol per person, he wanted us to add that here. We didn't see them.

What a wonderful place to stop by. We spent half a day hanging with Jorge, he showed us his land with all his plants, his turkeys and chicken. We talked for hours, he told us about his family. It's truly a great place to stop by for a night. He didn't ask for anything but we left a little something with him.

Pulled into this place around 5pm after a long drive. As mentioned, Jorge is super welcoming. At the time his electricity wasn’t working so I got my beers 100m down the road.

A surprising amount of traffic on the road. Some dust and a few sand flies but a great option along the way. Safe.

Would stay again.

still good place for one night in an amazing surrounding. take your time for a nice chat with Señor Jorge. since the pandemic this place is basic. his old-age pension is little, so he is happy you pay something...

26-06-2022 jorge’s tienda is still open for camping. It’s a flat concrete spot 10x10m, out of the wind but close to the road. Some cars/trucks will pass during the night but that’s was just a hand full. Jorge does everything to feel you at home. Cleaned the douche and creates a charging point for my electronics. Wonderful man. I stayed for one night.

Jorge is a really nice guy who loves to have travellers around. You can camp here, but the store is quite limited, so stock up before. While you are sitting and enjoying your well earned ice-cold beer you have to watch out for his tortoise eating your toes!

best place for a night between trujillo and caraz! jorge is so welcoming and loves to chat with all the travelers. he‘s such a good guy. you can park next to the house and there are toiletts and a watertank for use, unfortunately no shower when we were there. but perfect for a night, quiet and safe, no dogs barking!

Great guy! Jorge loves to chat and is proud to show off all the international visitors he's had. Next to the house there's a concrete slab where you can put your tent (or car). If his wife is home she can make you food apparently, which was unfortunately not the case when we were there. Cold shower and toilets available, not exactly spotless but decent. Very nice experience, would recommend! 10 sol for 2 in a tent.

Jorge is a very nice guy who built this place for his retirement. He has a garden across the street and several different people are currently building up their country homes and gardens next to Jorge's place. He has very cold beer and a few snacks. He also has toilets and a shower (if the water is working) otherwise you can use bucket water to rinse off. A great place to camp before climbing up the gradually elevating roads towards Caraz.

Wanted to stay with our motorhome at this place but the concrete pad, right at the road, was blocked by an old truck and some tree branches hanging low. There is a slanting dirt lot at the opposite side of the road, but we decided to move on.

Jorge is the best. He now has rooms as well (15 soles pp.). We stopped with a bus and a tent. You can put the bikes inside over night.
