Latest Check-Ins

As described, but the vault toilet is not in great shape. Useable, has TP, but it is pretty full and the door doesn’t close very well. Did not check the water.
Campsites are on the far side of the lake, three designated sites with fire rings and tables. There are other sites around the lake that could work too. Good location if you are in this area and it’s free! Have had several cars/pickups drive through, but seems ok.

Report Check-In

Quiet (except for the freight trains), convenient to US 400.

Report Check-In

Very buggy, but nice place to stay. Lake was a little odd - I’ve never seen one so gray and murky. Still, decent spot to stay with service

Nice city park on large pond. We needed to cut tree to park, overgrown. Nice place to stop for few days traveling to get to I40. Local people very friendly.

Report Check-In

Quiet, limited traffic through park, stayed on west side of lake. Toilet relatively clean.

Report Check-In

Level road around small lake away from the train tracks that parallel US 54. Well kept vault toilet. Camping welcome.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet place. I guess trains would be a bother. We just stopped by for water. Found a stand pipe near the picnic tables. Had to drive on grass to fill. But seems that others have also.

Nice little fishing lake just outside of town. Level parking, picnic tables and fire rings. Three sites on the far side of the lake, with a fishing pier, are spaced pretty far apart. No trash cans. Water at the entrance was still on in early October. Last train I heard was about 10:30 pm and then again at around 5:30 am. Lots of train traffic during the day, but it isn’t terrible. I enjoyed four days here, and would definitely come back.

Report Check-In

A single road around a fishing pond with cows and birds on the outskirts. There were a few fishermen on the weekend but only the occasional drive through during the week. Some train noise, some noise from the working farms nearby.

Report Check-In

We have a nice spot east of the lake. There are only a handful of spots and at sundown only one other camper.

Report Check-In

Cute little fishing like there’s a water hook up near the entrance and they’re also pit toilets my AT&T had three bars. The sunset here was really gorgeous. there is a lot of random traffic that drives around the loop and a pretty loud train but other than that it’s quite a little gem.

Report Check-In

Pulled in to check it out and some kids in a red pickup truck started doing donuts and yelling at us. We decided to move on.

Report Check-In

It’s January, so it wasn’t the prettiest place, but it served its purpose well for a night. Nice flat spot between the lake and the neighboring corn field. Might have used the fire pit if it weren’t for the 20mph winds. The morning view was nice with the sun rising over the water.

Fair amount of road noise at night from 54 and some train traffic, though they either didn’t use their horns until day break or I might have slept harder than I thought.

Would be a good spot for a stopover in the summer.

Report Check-In

Quiet campsite - we only heard the train once at 8:30 pm and the entire night was quiet. Nice large flat area to park at for the night.

There is a bathroom here but it’s disgusting so try to avoid.

Report Check-In

Yes the trains are noisy, and given the distance to the highway traffic so is road noise. But just sat in our vehicle looking at the grass area we have seen one of the best varieties of bird I have seen from a camping spot

Report Check-In

Nice small lake that is near train tracks. Road goes all around the lake & camp/picnic areas on other side of lake are nice but no bathrooms on that side. One toilet as you enter park, don’t see any showers. Town has interesting history.

Report Check-In

it's free, but peaceful isn't the word I'd use, trains with loud horns all night long and day, but if you don't mind that it's really nice
