Latest Check-Ins

Beautiful surroundings, very green, very wet :) Fun hikes around to beautiful waterfalls across slippery muddy paths (very dirty shoes!)
Good food at the restaurant, nice place to sit on the deck. Very slow WiFi, we struggled with the kids' online schooling. Ablutions are very basic (our expectations were a little too high after only reading reviews on here)

Report Check-In

All reviews are spot on. The cabins and chalets are worth a look too if wanting a break from the cold and wet!

Report Check-In

Really good place to stay. We paid 1000 Ksh a night, there are water toilets and a restaurant with very good food. A waterfall is close to the campsite and if you want to go for a hike there are guides that will take you. They offer smaller (3h) and bigger hikes like 5h. The longer hike also leads to a waterfall.

What can I say about this place other than "wow"! We were planning on staying one night and ended up staying four nights.

The pricing with the facilities available is nothing more than incredible. We paid KSH 1,000 per night per adult.

If overlanding, this place is well worth a stay.

Lovely campsite, lush and green, fireplace, washing up/prep sink and station, picnic tables. Ablution block is fine with western toilet and hot water morning and evening from a donkey boiler. superb hike to a lovely waterfall and then up to the first camp stop if you are climbing Mt Kenya, about 4.5 hours in total 800ksh pp for guide. Also a shorter walk to a lovely waterfall and pool just by the campsite. Restaurant and bar if needed and occasionally WiFi available at the lodge. Nice temperature during the day and then quite chilly at night. 1000 ksh pppn

Report Check-In

beautiful camping spot and everything is still very well maintained; highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Found a flat area for our rooftop tent, camping cost 1,000 ksh pppn. Hot showers (donkey boiler) and western toilet. Staff made a bonfire for us on our first night (this was charged at 300 ksh). The location is stunning; in the early morning we had a beautiful clear view of Mt. Kenya from up on the hilltop. The bandas are extremely picturesque, something out of the hobbit mixed with local culture. Extremely peaceful with loads of birdlife, there are walks and horse rides on offer. The road to Castle Forest is quite muddy (will be interesting in rainy season).

Report Check-In

Road leading to campsite very slippy, thick wet mud/clay/paste for 3km. Not suitable for our heavy loaded motorbike so unfortunately we didn’t make it to the camp. Saw even a local on a bike get stuck in the mud. Have added photo for reference

Really good campsite on the side of Mount Kenya. Large camping area on grassy terraces.

Camping for 1000ksh pppn, note though you are inside the national park but do not pay any fees for the national park here. They can also organise hikes and other activities for you from here.

Ablution block good with hot water shower and western toilets. It can get very cold and wet here and sometimes the view of Mount Kenya is obstructed for days.

Restaurant with okay food and large covered area with power that you can use if it is raining heavily.

All in all a nice campsite weather dependant!

Report Check-In

1000ksh pp camping according to new pricelist. Very nice camp.

For us, one of the nicest places we had. The area and the forest is magic. The 4-5 h hike to the big waterfall is beautiful. One of the guides, Joseph, is one of the best, too. We loved it!!! ❤️ Access track is in a good condition and it is (real) big rig friendly 😉.

Report Check-In

Really beautiful. Feels like you are in the Swiss alps, with all the wooden chalets.
Showers are hot. Nice and clean.
Campsite is flat and grassy.
We parked up at the top just above the chalets where we had a wonderful view of mount Kenya (when it wasn’t raining)
Also can do some horse riding through the forest for KES 1200 ph
Really nice place to rest up and also don’t need to pay park fees to stay there.
KES 800 pppn.

perfect setting in a large cleared landscape in the middle of the jungle. 800pp. hot water. perfect for roof top tent and others.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite with hot showers and beautiful scenery. There's a shelter in the camping area which was great if it rained. camping is 500/800 pppn (resident/non resident), fire wood 300, hiking 500/800 depending on length of walk.

Report Check-In

Indeed a very beautiful place. Road on a dry day is fine, just bumpy and dusty. At times it gets narrow and a bit steep, but 4x4 is not needed and a regular size car or a van can pass. Not sure about much bigger vehicles as there is a narrow wooden (but stable) bridge on the road. This is all about the last 3 km inside the Mt. Kenya park. Before that all the way it’s good tarmac. Restaurant is a bit pricey, but the atmosphere is amazing! We paid 800ksh - nonresident price. If you stay overnight, you don’t pay the park entrance fee.
