Trailhead of the Cachoeira do Avencal Waterfall.
Dead-end gravel road. Parking in the middle of the forest, with a small river. Calm. 10 minutes moderate hike over large stones until the 100-m Cachoeira do Avencal.
Tent friendly depending on how visible you mind being. Public area but quiet. Good place for Motor campers.

Nice place to hike to the waterfalls. When arriving a guy tried to charge me 40 reales to go to some park that's above the falls (Mundo Novo I think). I told him that I didn't want to go to the park and just wanted to hike to the falls. After a bit of convincing he let me go on without payment. Definitely recommend the little hike and I had no issues going with my big doggo. Small doggos might have issues climbing some of the bigger rocks.
Report Check-InVisited this place in the morning to see the falls. Two cars were parked there. They had gone when I returned from the falls and three others had arrived I passed half a dozen people the hour I was there. This is currently high season so I would expect moderate traffic during the day and quiet at night - quieter in the offseason. The path to the falls is rough with big boulders to climb over so you wouldn't get many people visiting after dusk. the approach to the car park is typically long and rough along a dirt track. Plenty of good looking Pousadas along the way.
I would pitch my tent here in the car park arriving just before dusk but since it was still morning I moved on to Serra do Rio do Rastro and found a hostel in Bom Jardim da Sierra. The woods to the falls are thick so no opportunity for pitching tents in there.
