Description

Recently we completed the purchase of more than 250 hectares or more than 600 acres of primary rain forest on the Osa Peninsula. Our property group can now proudly state that we have become carbon neutral, achieving one of our long time family and corporate goals. We've just recently added iOverlander info so bring your campers and enjoy. Pura Vida!

We're happy you dropped by. take a load off, sit down and relax. it's very easy to fall into a tropical rhythm in a place where thatched roof dwellings such as chozas, ranchos & palapas exist. They are an essential part of both the historical and contemporary Osa lifestyle & experience. They are simplicity, functionality and beauty all rolled into a fine piece of work. you'll notice the tropical elegance of la palapa hut as soon as you enter.

FYI palapas chozas ranchos and tents all promote reduction in human stress levels. nature has a great way of doing that. at la palapa hut we invite you to enjoy the abundance of flora and fauna. We maybe charge a couple of bucks more than the average hostel, but believe us when we say you truly should treat yourself, mainly because of the wonderfully tropical experience at a very economical price that you'll receive at la palapa hut.

extraordinary flora and fauna can be found throughout the property. walk with a camera and remember to slow down & enjoy

great place with nice installation, including clean bathroom and shower. I would recommand but be ready to pay a bit more... the price is high (30$/Nights) compared to other camping in the area.

We enjoyed our stay here. You can park on a grassy field, you have clean bathrooms and will wake up with the sound of the howler monkeys and macaw in your ears. We also booked a nice day tour to see animals. The place is near at the town with restaurants and stores.

12,000 for two. Definitely not the cheapest place during our drive through CR. But the campgrounds are beautiful and wonderful wildlife around. Clean shower, which we used multiple times per day.

You can also organize your Corcovado tour from the front desk, so very convenient!

We had virtually no mosquitoes when we were there. But I suppose it really depends on how bad it rained prior.

We liked it, but our cat was just so-so about this place. Too much wildlife for her!

Most expensive place for us. 12000 colones for one night. As soon as we arrived and started to set everything up the mosquitoes where eating us alive. Our 2 toddler looked pretty bad and we had lots of bites aswell. So only took a quick shower which was nice and clean before quickly hiding in our rooftop tent. In the morning it was still so bad we could not eat breakfast and left immediately. So for ONLY sleeping there it was expensive. Oh well.

La palapa hut is a nice hostel/camping in puerto jimenez. We wanted to use the camping grounds but because of the intense rain we opted for the shared dormitories. We paid around 13000 colónes for 2 people. There was a good place to chain up our bicycles and we felt quite good about leaving our belongings there while we went to the natural reserve. One downside to the shared dorms is that the air conditioner does not work and it gets really uncomfortably hot in the room.
There is free coffee and a friendly talkative hostel owner to help wake you up in the morning!

Dropped by this place but at 25 usd per vehicle decided to go to Adonis.

A beautiful grounds with many choices of seating or lounging. We camped for 3 nights, enjoyed the pool and the free coffee. We booked a tour with Ronny and Andrew and had a great day hiking to their cabin in the jungle paradise of the Osa, great views over the Pacific and the Gulf and viewed many birds, butterflies, monkeys and insects along the way. Facilities at this lodge are excellent with a kitchen for your use and fast wifi.
