Not a complaint, but it's a bit more of a storage yard for old BMW parts and project cars than it looks like in the pictures. The last bit of road will have you wondering if you're in the right place, as well, because it looks more or less like you're heading into a bit of a beat up old neighborhood.

The view is great, the chill area is great. It's mostly quiet save for a bit of highway noise and village life sounds floating in, but the thing you hear most is bird song. At 75Q it's a bit of a spend for the amenities you get, but it's the only game in town, really, and a pleasant, quiet place to be. I especially appreciate that it feels very private. Like I can both hang out and sleep with my door open and without my privacy blinds.

Full bars 4G Claro and plenty of open air for starlink if needs be.

Stayed 1 night last-minute because we were unexpectedly in Guatemala City into the evening due to a pet emergency. Markus is a nice guy! He answered our call right away and was happy to help. Still $10USD/night. It was a quiet night. Would stay again!

Report Check-In

A great place to stay before or after the border. There are toilets and water (not drinking water) for the tank. Before you should write Markus a message via WhatsApp. He will let someone know who then opens.
Surely everyone knows the place at Lago Izabal "Markus Vogel" it is the same Markus who owns this place. We paid 80 Q per night.

Report Check-In

it is a great and quiet place to relax and get some things on the car fixed. Markus is very kind and like to help overlanders. He got a Workshop on that place with a nice collection of old BMW cars.

A safe, quiet large level spot that can fit a number of rigs. In good traffic you can get to Guatemala City in 30 mins. It‘s right off the Panamerican highway, so also a perfect stop when travelling to or from El Salvador. Markus uses this land when tinkering around with his BMWs and so there are plenty of tools available should you also need to work on your vehicle. He has a great shack with table, chairs and sink, a grill area, and clean toilets. If Markus happens to be in town, you’ll be in for a treat. He’s a fun guy who’s always up for a few beers. Price is still $5 p/p which we think is a fair price given the location. We can highly recommend it.
