If you like cheap camping, off road recreation sand dunes, fishing and boondocking this is the place. In the middle of flat farm country lies the little city of Syracuse, Kansas, which hosts a campground and OHV recreation right outside their town. I think we paid $10 per night to camp and $5 per day to enter the dunes. There is a nice lake for fishing and adjacent is the Arkansas River. 4x4 is NOT necessary for the camping area which is a open gravel area and you just pick a spot. There’s no shade from trees and depending on the time of year the bugs can be a nuisance. If you want to enter the dunes be sure to have a safety flag and air down the tires. There is ATT phone and data service here.

Dirt road right next to campsites with pick up trucks blowing by faster than they should, creating dust storms. We decided to move on.
Report Check-InBig flat parking area with dumpsters. Easy to turn around, plenty of room with a cute lake. A little loud in the weekday morning due to big rigs, but we were left alone. Lots of goat heads to step on so don’t go barefoot.
Report Check-InGood size pond. Lots of geese. Sandy dunes all around it. Edge of water is like a beach.
Half the pond is for day use or dispersed camping. I stayed 2 nights, and besides a few cars coming and going during the day, there was only one other RV overnight with me (far away).
To go to the “dunes” area, it appears you pay.
To go to the other half of the pond, where there are RV spots (13-15) with electric and water, there is a fee )not sure the amount).
Got full bars on Verizon.
Beautiful sunsets.
I went online to their website today.
They show electric and water hook-ups.
Both back-in and pull-through spots are $35/might. After tax/fees it came to $40/night.
There is a 40 acre lake there.
Rv and dry camping just off the highway. Right next to town and there is dune driving if you have an ATV or off-roading vehicle. Not suuuper nice campground but a good midway stop on a trip. rv site was 40$ dry camping is 15$
Bathrooms looked clean enough but the showers seemed a bit dirty so I didn’t go there 😅
Report Check-InNice little place for a night or two. Lots of highway noise but tolerable. Hot showers even though I had to clean it up first. Rates are now 15 dollars for dry camping but worth it imo.
Report Check-InBe sure to check out the local theater if here on a weekend, great old small town place.
Report Check-InSolid Verizon LTE. Buggy. Flat spot, plenty of electrical for RVs if you need. Fine for an overnight. Was there during and after a storm, pretty muggy and windy spot that day.
Report Check-InCamping around small lake. Good Verizon service. Some road noise.
Report Check-InNice off season recreation. Paid $25 for dry camping and access for two into the Dunes for a romp in the RZR. Had the place to ourselves. There are water spigots all over to refill water and fire pits scattered about. Nice lakeside camping with the highway off in the distance. Totally worth the spot. I think it also include showers but the owners weren’t here today.
Report Check-InEarly visit out of the season. Spending a night “dry”camping with an RV at this quiet nice place ( just hear the ducks on the lake ) with a view. Picnic tables are available. You pay 10$ into a box at the shower house at the beginning of the sand dune trail
