Red flag. Sad to say we also had a terrible experience with Anatolia overland. We hired them as a company to help us translate and talk with mechanics in the area. They took. 20% fee on the final bill ..
our bill made no sense and we were charged an extreme amount of money for parts that were not even installed on the car sadly . We had heard good things about emre and his team but those people had dealt with him many years ago. He would defiantly help you in a pinch to find a location to fix your car etc. but we wouldn’t recommend his services. When we received the final bill and tried to ask him questions about it and have him explain it he claimed he knew nothing about cars and couldn’t help us with that!? Yet when we first spoke with him he said he’s been doing this for 10 years?? We’re not the type of people to speak badly of people but when we asked him “ don’t you feel you want to help the overlanding community ?” He replied “ I don’t care about those instagram accounts and YouTuber channels. . “
Unfortunately our experience didn't match the previous reviews. On the strength of those reviews we took our Defender to Emre to have new brake pads, an oil change and to re-grease the swivels with Land Rover recommend one shot grease. Emre said we also needed 80% of bushes replaced. He said he would take photos of everything so we could see what he did. We left the car with him to do the work. When we returned we had to go and get cash to pay and asked him how much. He said he hadn't calculated bill yet, but thought about 2000 lira. When we were ready to leave we asked how much and he said 2000 lira. There was no bill and he didn't give us a receipt. He didn't show us any photos. At the garage up we noticed a puddle on the floor beneath our secondary fuel tank. It had developed a leak at the union between the tank and the hose connecting it to the main tank. We have had no problems with the tank since fitting it over two years' ago.
After we left, we had noise from the swivels. We phoned Emre and asked what he'd put in them. He said a mixture of engine oil and hard grease - ie not the recommended grease we'd asked him to use and he said he could supply. When we looked, the swivels were dry. We contacted Emre again and asked if maybe they hadn't been done. He said it was possible they hadn't! Next thing we noticed was we had lost both front axle dust caps. Then our front brakes burnt coming down a not very severe hill, making us wonder if the rear brakes were ok. we decided to go to another 4x4 garage in Antalya. The mechanic there told us the rear brake pads had done 10000 Kms.
Finally, we noticed that Emre had attempted to remove our locking wheel nuts by force because he couldn't find the key. All of the nuts were damaged, and all of the wheel nuts were excessively over tight
We went to Emre asking for three things to be done. We came away with only the oil change and bushes done, and with more problems than we had when we arrived.
We contacted Emre asking him to pay back some of what we'd paid, as 2000 lira seemed unreasonable for what had been done and taking account of the condition of the car when we left. Unfortunately we have received nothing back.
Emre speaks perfect English and will sort out any problem you have. Had my car towed from Antalya (600km) and helped me out. Contact him via fb or Instagram. Need any upgrades on your overland vehicle, Turkey is a lot cheaper than Europe, and Emre is your man.
