After boondocking for quite a few nights, we needed to dump and do laundry and Shady Rest was a wonderful place to spend a night. A park like setting, gravel pads with grass and nice picnic tables. Easy in and out. The new owners are very friendly and helpful. We’d definitely stay here again!

If you value being mobbed by the groundskeeper immediately after arrival without any greeting, then you are in the right place. But maybe it's better to make sure that people who want to vent their frustration and anger on their customers don't get any more customers.

I rarely review paid campgrounds, but we stayed a night here and it was the best paid campground ever & so worth the money!!!

Cleanest shower & bathroom stalls with so much privacy, cheap laundry, they take credit card, a nice big lawn for our dog to run around in, and so many hand painted uplifting drawings & quotes on these rocks nearby. I went through to look at them all. Owners are super nice, would def recommend!

Very nice. Friendly people. Great showers and bathrooms. We didn’t need any electric or anything and we pay $23.

Great campsites. Showers are private individual washrooms. AND no extra charge!!! The owner, Harald is super friendly and extra accommodating.

Excellent stop over with super hot, very clean showers and bathrooms. Great dedicated wifi for everyone. Pet friendly walking areas. Friendly, helpful owners.

amazing hosts. lovely quiet. occasionsl train in the distance. bathrooms and showers lovely and cozy clean. Kathy and Harold are spectacular hosts. we had a minir repair we needed to do and Harold found us and cut to size a peice of wood.. so very grateful. we will be back come spring. thank you so much.

It’s been 2 years since last review, so just confirming that it is still a nice campground-right off Hwy 16. Lovely owners, clean, we appreciated the nice gravel driving surfaces after a very rainy day. Our unserviced site has a wooden shelter over picnic table. $26

Hi folks i am Harald the owner of the Shady Rest RV Park in Houston. We hope that you all have a great stay with us . We have lots of flowers ,super clean Bathrooms and incredible WIFI. Our Communal Gazebo with a BBQ for everyone is available to use for all to use ,and if you have a dog we do have a great area for you to exercise them off leash till they are Tired. We are Biker ,Tenter friendly with 3 Gazebos so you are our of the elements. Our bathrooms are impeccable clean and the Laundry room is clean with 4 washers and Commercial Gas driers

If you need a nice campground with a shower etc.. . This is a good choice. Friendly owner and very well kept grounds, including the showers/bathrooms. We were expecting thunderstorms show she gave us a site with covered picnic tables, the type that you would expect to see used for a common area...

Off season and Harald the owner welcomes us like friends. Very good people! Clean and quiet.

This is an RV park but the owners are very friendly and receptive to Overlanders, bikers and cyclists. We came here out of season and the opened a shower and toilet for us.

Near to the town and a nice site with communal fire pit.
