North Macedonia
Busy border on the weekends, but very straightforward. If entering Kosovo buy insurance at the white building to the left before the gates. Note: many green card insurances seem to cover everything BUT Kosovo so check first. For a motorcycle it was €10 for 15 days.
For entering Macedonia if you buy insurance at the border it's €55 for cars and motorcycles for 15 days.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
dont do this! It's not worth it.
77 € insurance in this white container just for Transit klass N1 Car (Hilux), validity 14 days! ..pure ripoff i think! ..asked the border guard for an alternative. He told me that even if I was only there for half an hour, i have to pay this. My green card which is valid in Serbia, is not valid here in this half-country. When you drive through it is like driving through a huge industrial area with lots of scrap yards. Apart from the monastery and a few other things in the capital and the white waterfalls, there is a lot of garbage to see everywhere, nothing else. ...never again i cross this aerea!
Report Check-InCrossed NMK-Kosovo, went smoothly. Green insurance card no longer valid in Kosovo so you have to buy insurance at the border. Just do so before you go into passport control. €15 for 15 days (minimum amount) for a car.
Green card valid again in Serbia if you are crossing out that way.
Report Check-InGoing from Kosovo to North Macedonia. Fairly painless on both sides. No green card so €50 insurance for 15 days for a motorcycle - bought from the white cabin on the border. The Macedonians hold your passport until proof of insurance paid.
Report Check-InTo enter Kosovo, it's now a small black building that says BKS. Still located on the left right before the welcome sign at the immigration booths. Also 15 euro for a motorhome for 15 days.
Report Check-InJust to add onto the previous entry: border indeed straightforward (I went NMK—>KOS) and insurance for Kosovo sold immediately before entry in a small white building on your left. Was charged 15€ for a motorcycle for 15 days, with higher rates for other vehicles. The shop accepted Euros, Denar, as well as credit cards!
